Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, il publisher Activision ha reso noto che il suo first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ha superato la soglia del miliardo di dollari, in relazione alle copie vendute, in soli 16 giornio dal suo lancio.
Quello celebrato da Activision č un risultato davvero eccezionale, ove si consideri che con queste cifre Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ha offuscato anche il primato del film Avatar, che nel 2009 aveva superato la soglia del miliardo di dollari, ma in 17 giorni.
Lo sparatutto Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ha tuttavia fatto registrare anche altre prestazioni da record, forte di un volume di affari pari a 775 milioni di dollari nei primi 5 giorni successivi al lancio (questo primato non č nč superato nč eguagliato da nessun altro prodotto legato all'entertainment, ndr).
Senza contare che nel primo giorno successivo alla sua commercializzazione l'ultimo episodio della serie Call of Duty ha fatto registrare un volume di affari pari a 400 milioni di dollari: e anche in questo caso siamo di fronte a un record, ovviamente.

Highlighting the trend of interactive entertainment gaining a greater hold of audiences worldwide, the game achieved this milestone in just 16 days, eclipsing the record set in 2009 by the feature film "Avatar," which reached the $1 billion milestone in 17 days.
While 2011 box office revenue is on the decline down 4 percent this year at $9.4 billion, compared with $9.8 billion in 2010 -- the number of people purchasing and participating in gaming is on the rise, with no sign of slowing.(1) With more than 30 million gamers, the Call of Duty community now exceeds the combined populations of the cities of New York, London, Tokyo, Paris and Madrid.
