Thx! I was afraight you would tell me the specs couldn't go higher. And you did. But i still have one question, one you might know yourself. Is it possible to use more than 256x256 texture resolution by adding some line in the cfg file?

Quote "DirectX 6: This is the extreme low end. DX6 cards running Half-Life 2 will look a lot like HL. Textures are only 128x128 or 256x256. Everything will look very nasty. TNT2, ATI Rage, S3 Savage, Voodoo3, Matrox G200, motherboard integrated graphics." from www.techimo.com

The voodoo 5 can do 2048 x 2048. So is that possible, or are we limited forever to this direct x 6 thingie? Thx again.

Yo guys, Thx! I will see tomorrow how I will put them on my site! I'm thinking of making a link to users benchmarks. Under other > user benchmarks probably . Tomorrow I will make the link, and you'll be the first with benchmarks on my site! Hopefully this will encourage others users of this forum to send me their results. If anyone is interested, do some 3dmark 2001 benchmarking with the same settings as I did under Drivers. Anyway, thx again!

[edit] This is what im going to put on my site from you!

Hello guys,

I was just trying to run halflife 2. It runs great! Except for one thing. When I go to the graphical-settings menu, and adjust some things, and click on apply... Windows gives some major error. Kabaaaam, halflife 2 knocks to the desktop. Is this because of the voodoo card, or is there some directx fix, driver fix or something to fix that? It's the halflife 2 demo.

Nfs porche runs like a charm inhere. Using amigamerlin 3.1 r6, all graphics high 1024x768x32. D3D.

I've tried using a dual monitor setup for serveral times. This only time it worked for me was with a simple trident 2 mb pci card and a tnt m64 (tnt 2 chip based). The vanta is indeed a tnt2 based card with a 64 bit memory interface and 16 mb of memory and a 100/125 core/memory clock. (other than the real tnt 2 and ultra, which had a 128 bit memory interface and 32 mbyte @ respectively +-170 and 200 mhz).

This is why it might not work:

PCI supports full device bus mastering, and provides bus arbitration facilities through the system chipset. PCI's design allows bus mastering of multiple devices on the bus simultaneously, with the arbitration circuitry working to ensure that no device on the bus (including the processor!) locks out any other device. At the same time though, it allows any given device to use the full bus throughput if no other device needs to transfer anything. In a way, the PCI bus acts like a tiny "local area network" inside the computer, in which multiple devices can each talk to each other, sharing a communication channel that is managed by the chipset.

just a hunch, but i guess this is why 2 pci cards won't work that smooth. One pci and one (dedicated bus) agp will work without interfering each other, so that's why i guess that will work. Don't know it for sure though.

General Hardware / Overclocking CPU...
15 May 2005, 11:36:23
Try to raise the voltage a little. don't go any higher than 2.3 volt for your cpu. It can probably take around 2.5 volt, but i would not recommend it.

If you can set a pci divider (2x standard for a 66 mhz cpu), set it to 3x. Then overclock to 83 mhz fsb. This would leave the fsb around 28 mhz, which is a little low but probably better then the 41.5 mhz you've set on it with a 2x divider. Your ide interface cant handle 41.5, not any standard onboard ide interface can.

Watch your cooling. Your cpu wont run 100 mhz fsb, this is way to high so don't even try. Goodluck!

I will surely use many different catagories! Thx for the links! I will also add amature pages and other 3dfx related links. But i have to make it till 100 links. So first, ill find those! Thx

Hello everyone,

Im thinking of starting a linkpage like http://www.startpagina.nl for 3dfx users/owners and people with interest. I need to have nearly 100 links to other sites about 3dfx or related items. I was just wondering if that's possible, i don't know that many 3dfx related sites. If you guys know it's possible, then please post all the links to pages you know. If not, it was worth the try. Thx, Bas Kapteijn[8)]

Done! Your games are added below the list :) Thx for the info

I've just added some great pictures I found. You can find them under Other, Pictures. Reminds me of my great Helios Voodoo Graphics (:D i loved that card!). And i've managed to get my page linked on http://hardware.pagina.nl :) Anyways, still waiting for hank, but no rush.

Thx guys!
#42
Wow! I didn't know it really existed! I hope hank has some info on it, it's great to see this card for real! This will make some good info on my site, thx!

[edit] I've just send hanksemenec an email. Hopefully we'll hear from him soon! Thx [/edit]

Hello everyone,

As you guys know, im working on a 3dfx site. What I would like to know, especially from hanksematic, is what known card mods are done. Im wondering if there are any mods like:

Voodoo 2 with more than 12 mb memory, of other voodoo cards with more memory.

Euh, things like that, real mods done by amatures. If anyone knows any amature mods, please tell me :)
#44
What program would that be, to overclock both chips?
#45
You may be right about that one. I will look at it soon. Thx

edit: I've placed all versions in the voodoo 3 3500 text. When all information is done about the cards, i'll update the roadmap. Does anyone have other card version info about the other voodoo cards? (1,2,3 , banshee etc)
