Yep, it's very nice graphics and also as you can see not that bad in terms of frames both in and outdoors (you can see the FPS on the top right):D

A PIII 1Ghz+ CPU would make the gameplay frames awesome with the V5!!!

I can also get SOF2 going on the Voodoo2's running good frames, but I have to cut the textures right down so it looks nowhere near as nice as these shots[:(]

Target Machine was a retro gaming AT dream machine I have built recently [:p]

AMD K6-III+ 550Mhz, Voodoo5 5500 MAC PCI, WinXP Home SP2, Amigamerlin 3.1 R11.

Graphics was turned on High Quality @ 800x600 with 4xFSAA.

I know I've already sent this to you Trigger, but just showing everyone else here - I'm using WinXP Amigamerlin R11.  Fill rate seems fine here.  Does Win98 really make a difference?

Have you read this thread http://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2109 ?

I'm no expert, but it from what I've been reading on these forums you will still need a case fan anyway if you want passive cooling.

I personally use the stock standard heatsinks/fans inside a standard AT case with the power supply fan being the only case cooling and I've not had a problem :)

I just swapped a PC Chips mainboard I don't need for a Creative Monster 3D Voodoo2 8Mb card with a mate at work...

But I was ROFL to find bundled with it 2 fans bearing the name "3Dfx Cool" - obviuosly the previous owner was into a bit of O/C...but has anyone ever seen these things before????

It's just that in my 8 years of owning Voodoo 1, 2, and 5's I aint never seen this before lol!!!!!

Everytime you fire it up, your neighbor would complain about the noise the fans make! :D

Well I tried it and it crashed on the F2 key the same as the Fastvoodoo 4.0XP gold glide2x.dll did anyway so it's not a fix.

Meh, I'll continue using the d3d version with the geforce2/radeon 9200SE - looks good enough, but not as good as the Voodoo2's do!
#23
So perhaps I should try the glide2x.dll packaged in the Amigamerlin R11 on the Voodoo2 PCs?

p.s. I've tried the Radeon glide2x.dll found at http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm but F2 still crashes the system.

I tried the radeon glide drivers last night and it fixed the display corruption problems!:)

I also noticed that there is an equivalent set of Geforce glide drivers, however when I tried them on my Geforce2 system I got errors so I rolled it back to Fastvoodoo 4.0 XP Gold and it was fine again.  Oh well.

As for the Radeon "VPU Recover" problem - My advise is to never put a Radeon 92XX family card in an ALI SS7 chipset - I've removed it and put it in the VIA instead:)
#25
Thanks for that...

Yes I have no problems running the Radeon cards in the VIA chipset, it's the ALI chipset that does it[:(]

I have even tried a friend's ALI chipset mobo - same problem.  Turned AGP to 1x no luck and also the catalyst drivers turn fast write off anyway.

Yikes, I think I found the fix - will try it later sometime.

Aparently there is a special set of glide files requried for ATI cards at http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm#Glide2x:)

Now if only I could find out why I am getting "VPU recover" messages from my Radeon 9250 when it's on my Jetway Super Socket 7 mobo....[B)]

Hi everyone,

Recently I tried to place an ATI Radeon 9250 in the same machine as a voodoo 2 running windows XP and using the fastvoodoo gold drivers.

Everything is great until I go to use the Voodoo2.  Then, either system locks up and/or the Radeon suddenly suffers severe display corruption.

I've tried it on 2 different machines and I also tried using an ATI Radeon 9200SE but the same thing happened!

Anyone know a fix to this??

OK, thanks.:)

Hi everyone,

Playing SWAT4 on the Voodoo 5 5500 using either Amigamerlin 3.1-R1 or Amigamerlin 3.1-R11 has problems with mainly doors, but also some other objects, having rainbow coloured flashing textures.

Anyone know if there is a fix for this?

Cheers,

Chips.

I work for a large systems company and I gave my card to a Hardware engineer here to have a look at.

He's identified a part that is blown which causes the card not to start because it's connected to the RESET line (see http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tps3801j25.html ) which is still available.

Problem is that I think this is the first layer of the onion that will reveal another problem after this is fixed.  I am going to get around to testing it out at some stage.
