Hi,

I have just installed Windows XP SP2 with AmigaSport 3.0 drivers. However, sometimes I get this message: "3dfxvs drivers has stopped working normally". XP return 640x480x16 resolution.

I also get this message on Windows 2000.

My mainboard is:
- ASUS TUSI-M (SiS 630ET, has onboard VGA, I disabled it on BIOS).

(but under SP1, like you can read but since this note is from 2003...)
Try to install again your driver.

And if that is not better, updating the driver can be an other way.

Thanks for the answer.

But I think the problem should not be a driver issue. Because stock drivers, and AmigaSport drivers has the same problem. I already tried to install it, again.

Updating the driver? Are there any newer drivers? I think the latest drivers are AmigaSport 3.0 for Voodoo3.

Has SFFT drivers some fixes for desktop usage? I read that it has only improved Direct3D.

Hum, if this is not a problem with the driver, where is the problem for you ? hardware ? DirX ? SP2 ?
I think always a problem with the driver since the machine returns in 640*480*16.
You get this error message "when" ? at random ?

Yes, at random.

The problem's reason may be hardware, or drivers. Maybe ASUS TUSI-M mobo has a problem with Voodoo3 ?

What is most stable drivers for Voodoo3? Stock? AmigaSport? SFFT? I'm not a gamer, I need only a stable Windows XP desktop.

I'm always "careful" with the onboard VGA.
Read that also in order to be sure that..

The latest drivers for the Voodoo 3 are now the SFFT driver and they are always updated.

If you're not a gamer, the MS (generic) driver.

Though SFFT might answer better than me about his driver. ;)

Well you can certainly try the SFFT drivers and see if they make a difference, I havn't tested them on SP2 though, if it does fix the problem then it would pin it down to a driver problem. There are generic W2K/XP device driver fixes in them.

Unfortunately, SFFT drivers couldn't solve the problem.

If you have any suggestion, please let me know.

From event logs:

1:30:28 PM
The driver 3dfxvs for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.

==============================
1:30:31 PM
Application popup: Windows - Display Driver Stopped Responding : The 3dfxvs display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft.

That can perhaps help (even if this is for Ati but can be for any video card)
