i quote here the news :D

Quote12.12.2004 - Amigamerlin 3.1 R2 for 3dfx Voodoo5 cards: testing in progress

A new Amigamerlin driver release, v. 3.1 R2, is now under beta testing. This kit introduces some interesting new features against previous Amigamerlin and SFFT Windows 2000/XP solutions for 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI/AGP and 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP.

In fact it uses Mesa 6.3.0.1 library as OpenGL ICD so making possibile to execute "on the fly" OpenGL games; besides it enbles scan line height on Voodoo5 6000 adapters.

Amigamerlin 3.1 R2 will be the first driver without 3dfx legacy libraries: all will be newer and coded by 3dfxzone.it developers
:D

Man, time is a factor here.
Now that I have been saving the whole year for an Athlon64/Geforce6800 rig this x-mas, there's gonna be a huge improment for my current k6-2 450 3dfx v3k2 rig...

If the driver is coded also for the Voodoo 3...

@Esters:
I guess R2 will use the latest SFFT D3D core and that's already good news for your v4 (mine too ;)) not even mentioning other changes ;)

Problem with these newer drivers is the CPU requirement. Offical 3dfx drivers were super streamlined and optimised for then generation CPUs like the Pentium III.

Newer MesaFX drivers and such are more compatible but their basic T&L code and so on is very slow so you need a really fast CPU to get the most out of your Voodoo5. And I keep my Voodoo5 in that same 933 MHz system.
