4500x2

I got a QDI Advance 10T. Apollo Pro chipset. I think it will support AGP 4x too... *goes and checks manual* yup, AGP 2.0 compliant. Had zero problemo with Voodoo 4500agp until I tried to play homeworld 2 and upgraded to Dx9b. GrrrrrrrrRAR.

And just to agree with Nightbird.  I got two Epox EP-MVP3G5 (which has no onboard sound, I know one of th MVPGx models does have it) using apollo MVP3 chipset, running NT4.0 one with voodoo 4500 agp. Zero problemo there.

Avoid the TMC AI5VG+ - apollo MVP chipset yes, S3, Voodoo, TnT support - forget it. Also forget the TI5VG+.  Sux. Not that anyone is about to rush out and buy one anyway lol!

Right er so we's all waiting for the new DX9b beta drivers yes?

As the deer pants after the brook, so I pant after dx9b compatibility (forgive me GOD I have waited yonkos for homeworld 2).

4500x2, please, full Directx9 support is completely impossible, because the voodoos (none of them) have support in hardware for the technology required by directx9. So please, stop posting about it. Amigamerlin 3.0 will come when it comes, but it will not have full support for directx 9, but it will hopefully be better than 2.9. Please stop flooding with this begging.
When the sun goes down, the music turns up...

Does anyone have a list or good advice on wich matx board to get for a v5 card? I've been searching a lot, but all the ones I see only support 1,5v agp!
Thanks a lot!

search for a mATX KT333 board and you have it ;)
kt333 is the last (and best) chipset for 3,3v voodoo cards! but do not use kt333ce models...they have 1,5v agp!

ms-dos

Intel i440bx it's a good old school Chipset i have a abit be6-2 v 1.1 it runs fine for the voodoo 5500 agp

Thanks for great info..I seen the MSI KT3 is listed as working with a voodoo 5500,this past week i picked up a MSI KT3 ultra2 standard version,KT333 chipset,agp2.0 1x/2x/4x unversal agp slot thats not keyed that i got for 7$USD.

heres the link to the stats from msi
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&prod_no=497

Its looking like a sure thing to me..just wanted to ask and make sure i didnt overlook anything.I tried to upload a pic but wouldnt work..The basic board doesnt have the extra 2 ide's,sata or raid and the northbridge has a heatsink only,no fan.

Just wanted to list a few socket478 boards that are agp 2.0 for working with a 3DFx Voodoo 5500

Biostar

U8668
U8668 D
U8668 Grand
P4SFA

Biostar P4SFA: The test PDF from biostars website states the AGP was fully tested at 3.3V and passed 100%!!This will replace my KT333 Athlon XP 2800 with a socket478 SIS chipset(yea i groaned too)P4 2.8 and this will add close to 200mhz more FSB and 600mhz more in CPU speed. The U8668,D,Grand are all the same boards and chipsets except for ram speed and ram type(the grand uses 2 ddr or 2 pc ram)

any updates on this page? also, looking at some of the boards listed, a quick google search seems to say that some of the are only agp 1.5v ? witch is no good for a v5500, only v4 and v5 6000.

could there be an edited list with more detail as to exactly what is suitable for v5500 AGP rather than the v6000.

When a mainboard is suitable for a V5-6000, then a V5-5500 will run as well.
Look here :

Scroll down to the mainboard listing.

thanks dude. [8D]

just wondering, if i decided to get a PCI voodoo 5 5500, and fit it to AMD 64 3500+ motherboard, will it be faster than using my existing AGP version running in an older high end AMD athlon XP system ?

No.
I'm running now a voodoo5 PCI together with a phenom 9850BE( 4x2500MHz ).

The speed is limited to the PCI bus. ( 33Mhz ).

For example in 3DMark2001 i get with the V5 PCI version now 2700 points in the quad core system.
With the V5 AGP version you get the same points with a single core cpu.
Follow your dreams !

oh... :( but, no loss in performance tho?

i guess the pci voodoo running on the quad core will at least give you a pc that is going to be faster doing non-gfx related stuff tho? over an older 3.3 v agp system.

any idea what the cpu 'celling' is for voodoo 5 performance? (the point at witch faster cpu's make no difference)

or would if run faster if your cores were running at 3.0ghz instead? as i doubt the v5 or 3dmark 2001 pay any atention to the other cores, or new insturction sets? i'm guessing the voodoo only benifits from traditional speed in mhz on just one of the 4 cores.
