Memory is not the problem[ 512MBx3 PC2700 (333Mhz)Sticks]. Tested with
Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic/Memtest86 and two other programs, passed all. Failed None. Using Windows XP SP2. I know there is
a Vcache bug in Win98, but i cannot fix it becuase it is upon installation of the OS. Windows XP was re-loaded. I will try the voodoomage drivers again after the system is re-updated. I will mirror image the hard drive in a norton ghost file before I attempt that again. This time is there anything I should do differently???
Thanx again all for your insight/help!

you should make a clean install and try koolsmoky's voodoo2 xp driver,it works great and it has mismatched support.be sure to check the readme.here:

Tried Koolsmoky's driver after a clean install of XP SP2.
It installed without any problems, but would not detect SLI for
any reason. And kept getting a black screen when trying to
play any game that uses the glide API. Comes up with a error
"Failed to initialize driver".....Well i finally came across
a driver that supports both winxp and MM cards in SLI.
Only problem was that I didnt think it would work, becuase
appearently the other people on this forum could get it to work correctly with thier computers hardware configuration.
Tried the driver, and amazingly its works perfectly. In glide mode,
but has some problems with OpenGL(wicked3d/minigl) games.
The driver I tried was Glide's MM driver (0.22 or 0.23).
Maybe that driver was created and tested toward certain hardware
config's? I do not know, but the drivers work good for me.
Thanx everyone for your good help/insight!

Geri

yes. 1024 is still not available in d3d...

ps47

is there a chance it will be possible in the future?

Geri

dont known... The problem is the DDRAW driver of V2 creatd by 3dfx is a beta - stuff, and do not suport SLI, when installing it detects two standard-alone v2-s. I wondering, if exist some secret registry key that enabling this function, this may be possible, or some beta 3dfx ddraw files existing somewhere...

Mr. Robson

I want to thank you for all your hard efforts Geri!
I run voodoo d3d games at 1024*768 and it works like a charm. Only problem is that i can't get more than 75Hz screen update. I've played Carmageddon TDK2000 and it works like a charm. Final Fantasy VIII also works without bugs. It's like i'm playing it on Win98. I simply make my voodoo the primary graphic card in display properties and i uncheck the exteded dekstop on my original graphic card. Then i just boot the game like normal without draging it to the icon. I haven't experinced any problems or bugs yet.
Note: I only do that with d3d games. glide and opengl games i drag to the Voodoo2 icon!

ps47

well thats confusing.are you sure you have a D3D game running in the 1024*768 resolution??

Geri

Mr. Robson: the dragndrop lancher do the same thing - disabling 2d card, enabling voodoo, and restoring. If you can run the games in 1024 with this techniqe, with dragndrop is ok too... But i wondering: when i tested D3D in 1024 with the 2.0.0, i get errors. (i not tested 2.2.0, i thinkd it still not available)

Mr. Robson

Yupp I tould you carmageddon TDK2000 works like a charm in 1024..the problem is i can't run d3d games with the voodoo icon launcher. So I switch the voodoo card on manualy. And Geri you said that FF8 intro doesn't work corretly. I don't have any problems at all with it. I've not yet tested the 2.2.0 drivers i'm running with 2.0.0 I'm going to do a little more testing for you guys i haven't had much time lately but I will be posting! By the way I only have a single voodoo2 card maybe that's why? I'm not really sure the drivers just work like a charm

Why exactly? Is this because of tweaks that had been finally made towards stability instead of performance, or new glide renderers mixed in? If this is a registry settings issue, what can we play with? D'led the driver, must check this "d3d 1K" weirdo myself[:p] Greetz, Ent.

hmm, single voodoo2 and 1024*768 resolution in D3D? I dont know (maybe the game is not using z-buffer?)..
