Hi people! Good news with this problem:
I have working my voodoo 5500 card with Slackware 10.1 (mesa 6.3 , X.org 6.2.7)
Obiosly it works with only one vsa-100 chip L ,but it finally works!
My Steps:
1.   after installing Slackware put 3rd cd and install glide3X (\extra\3dfx-glide\voodoo4_voodoo5)
2.   in the xorg.config modify the #load "dri" and #load "drm" to load "dri" and load "drm"
3.   now load x and see what happens with glxinfo ,it must be line : Direct rendering: Enabled
4.   you can look also at glxgears to see FPS you have now J
I have now working:
Quake III Arena – no gamma control ,mouse speed problems, in 24bpp game crushes after exit
Unreal Tournament 2003 – NO BUGZ AT ALL!!! but no water (shaders support)
Unreal Tournament 2004 – NO BUGZ , the same shader problem.
Return to the castle of wolfenstein – no gamma control.
The cuestion now is ... in windowz I have 3Dfx tools to control all the options for my voodoo but in linux? I can belive nobody yet had done some tools for this OS .elsewhere I can control the board trough xorg.config but what options I have ?
Another problem I have is ...my soun card (awe64 – creative) works really good in linux with OSS drivers ,but with ALSA it works only in KDE , no game sound at all ,it must be a game uncompatibility problem I guess ,but I like much more ALSA than OSS ,what can I do?

Still nothing...sank you for helping anyway...
He said i must use 32bpp for obtain direct rendering, but i only have 24bpp ?! The unique one distribution works fine for me was Knoppix 3.4 , it just enabled direct rendering and works great, but i dont want run it from CD every time i`m gonna do something :( and i havenot all application i have in Mandrake ... it has no kernel sources too. By now i`m gonna cry locking to winME (really SUCKS!!!).[xx(]

Hi people!
I am new in LinuX and in this forum too :) ,but I have found some vsa100 linux drivers its seems like lastest official for this O.S. But I still don't understand how to install it in my Mandrake 10 ,I have the followind modules loaded : tdfx ,agpgart , via_agp (these most be the unique important in that case) .i also have this lines in my xf86config-4 :
Load "dri"
Load "glx"
Load "dbe"
(the important ones) . My xfree86.o.log referring to voodoo sayd :
(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) 3Dfx Interactive, Inc. Voodoo 4 / Voodoo 5 rev 1
and more...
(II) LoadModule: "tdfx"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/tdfx_drv.o
(II) Module tdfx: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
   compiled for 4.3.0.1, module version = 1.0.0
   Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.6
This one I just don't understand ...it referring to PCI?
(WW) TDFX: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found
(II) TDFX(0): TDFXFindChips: found 2 chip(s)
great...
(II) TDFX(0): TDFXInitChips: numchips = 1
That one seem to be a driver problem ...
(II) TDFX(0): [drm] installed DRM signal handler
(II) TDFX(0): [DRI] installation complete
(==) TDFX(0): Direct rendering enabled
What a hell is DPMS?
(**) Option "dpms"
(**) TDFX(0): DPMS enabled
That`s all ,but I still have NO DIRECT RENDERING message in
Glxinfo.
My system is: Coppermine 1.0Ghz@1.2Ghz 256Mb Pc133Mhz@Pc140Mhz VooDoo 5 5500 AGP.
Please help me get Quake III working in LinuX that's all I need to completely migrate to this wonderfull system, thank you for helping:)
