Check out Steph3dfx's cooling!

I'm now using The Evercool Twinkling VGA Cooler (VC-RE) cause I couldn't get hold of the Vantec Copper.

Anyone know if the ASUS P2B-D works with the V5 6K?
It's got an Intel 440BX chipset and AGP 1.0!

Quotei found this bad taste joke:

Too right skinnie! ;)

Who ever put that one together doesn't appreciate scaleability!

VSA-100(Voodoo Scalable Architecture) That's what it was all about!

"extreme scalability"

Sorry I'm with you now!

QuoteIf I don't plug the power cable on the card, it powers up but of course nothing is coming up on the screen, even from the agp card.

This is really strange! It's like it's defaulting to the PCI video Card even when you tell it to use the AGP video in the ASUS P4S533-E BIOS. Normally it would ignore anything on the PCI bus and show you an AGP video bios screen and boot.

The VoodooMAC is doing something on the PCI bus to confuse the mobo. Have you assigned an IRQ to the video or anything?

I'd try a regular PCI video card in place of the VoodooMAC just to be on the sure side of things. Make sure the mobo bios is not to blame.

Basically get the mobo doing what it should do "without the voodooMAC". Then try it "with the VoodooMAC".

I'd also start clean and clear the CMOS and cut everything back in the BIOS.

Failing that..... [V] it's something dodgey with the card for sure.

So it's happening on two separate machines! This would indicate it's the card.
Either the card is no good or it's not flashed properly.

OK, first thing is first I guess, do a thorough visual inspection of both sides of the card for missing surface mount components.

If that's cool I recommend you flash your VoodooMAC again with my file! (see link in my Signature below)

Stick in an AGP card and set the BIOS to boot from AGP of course.
Put the voodooMAC in any PCI slot with the extra molex power connector plugged in. (Tell me, does your system boot with this setup?)

If you can boot with both cards installed getting video from your AGP card, you can run a DOS utility called pciscan.exe from http://www.nu2.nu/utils/ to see if your card is being detected.
This is last ditch effort though cause the flash utility would tell you anyway if it didn't find your VoodooMAC.

Grab my MSN if you need to, it's on my profile.

Great! Thanks for that ggab!

Does anyone know what the official specs are for the operating temperature of the VSA-100? Say from a data-sheet!

I want to set up an automatic temperature control on my fans to keep the VSA-100's within operating temperature.

Could be a simple thing as the Initial First Display in the BIOS.
Sounds like it's set to look for an AGP card and therefore won't boot.

Should set to PCI first then AGP.

If that doesn't work you might want to check the card on another machine to make sure the bios flashed worked. If it didn't grab my file here.

How I love the Peripheral Component Interconnect port! lol :D

Great to see some ground breaking stuff! ;)

Basically I want to preserve the card and increase stability.

I know these cards run hot cause of the crappy glue and all.

Let's call it an investment! :D

I'd like to replace the stock cooling of the Voodoo4 4500!

I did notice the two holes around the VSA-100 was slightly wider than the Voodoo5 5500.
And the VSA-100 wasn't centered either.

Love to see some solutions or ideas.

You could try something like this if it's going to be a regular gig!
