I had my 5500 working killer on my Biostar P4SFA with a P4 2.4 & 98se with no issues but my card is half blown and will only run in 1 gpu mode(V4500)

I was doing some thinking today about the Quake 3 box and my original idea of building the computer to run my Voodoo 5500...

For one my Voodoo5 has a bad second GPU and the Intel 845GEBV2 Motherboad is slotted wrong..So i went with an old 9000 i never use and it worked well..Today i decided that if i cant run the voodoo5 ill run a direct competitor from the same year and slapped in a ATI Radeon 7200 32DDR AGP.I also Decided to use the decent onboard audio for simplicty instead of the Sound blaster live.

Running DX7 i updated Quake3 to 1.32 and ran the Four.DM-68 Demo and came up 84FPS..Not bad!!Thats at 1024-768/32bit/Everything cranked..Ill have a new vid soon

Theres no way a 1400 duron will even come close to a 2.4 P4..The L1 & L2 limits on a duron are pretty big without massive overclocking and i really dont think a big OC can compensate for Cache that much.An Athlon XP is all i would sub a P4 with and yes they are better chips.

The PDF says nothing about athlon XP support only Athlon/Duron..

One question..Did you install Motherboard chpset drivers??Any yellow bangs(?) in ya device manager??

I would try another CPU and the onboard video to get the OS installed and motherboard drivers in and fool with cards later..Also dont forget that after you install the OS and mobo drivers to enable UDMA in windows 98se!!Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager right click then Property/settings for ya CD's and Hard drive then chk the box that says UDMA and reboot

All iam gonna do with my Voodoo3 3000 is tap the 2 holes not used on the heatsink and get a fan off ebay and some screws from homedepot..That way it stays original using the stock heatsink but has a fan mounted.

The Black Sheep all done..Games installed and running fine..Sorry for the crappy video but hey its better then nothing..

I got one of these chips back in 08 after trying to find an adapter for tualatin to coppermine only boards and they work..I read alot of the forums here and know theres alot of ppl on here that use the trusty(and my fav)370 socket..My abit VH6-II only needed a bios flash to get it over the 950MHZ hump and up to 1.4 The seller has a huge list of boards that it works on and a FAQ and feedback site also..pretty Nice[8D]

Last week i pulled out this computer again and changed the OS to windows 2000 and a Voodoo3 and its working nice..But i really want to try the Voodoo 5500 again..a few things i wanted to verify..

the card only works in AGP 1X?
AGP fast write off?
Video shadowing off?

What other settings should i look for in the bios??

Nice machine man I have at least 3 or 4 epox boards that all have a few caps..you are very fortunate

Just grabbed 1.6 and its working fine on Quake3..But theres now no render option in the games system settings..Is that normal??
