Title: FS2002 flickering clouds with V5
Post by: Qwikstik on 07 August 2003, 04:28:28
I have been looking everywhere for a solution to the flickering
cloud problem when running Microsoft Flight sim 2002 on my Voodoo
5500 AGP.  If you fly at 10,000 feet and put a cloud layer about 6
to 8000 feet either above or below (or both), you will see them flicker
and/or shimmer.  I have tried all of the games options and all of the
card options, but nothing fixes the problem.  I am now running on an
Athlon 2Gig with ECSK7s5a MB.  Also had the problem on ASUS MB with Athlon 700MHZ.  From what I have read, everyone with a V5 seems to have the problem, regardless of CPU, MB etc.  Oh yeah, I'm running win98SE with 3DFx driver 4.12.01.066.  I am also trying to find out if FS2004
has the same problem since it has upgraded the weather somewhat...
If you can shed any light on this it would be great!  ---    Don.

Why don't you try the Amigamerlin 2.5 driver.  Also are you running Direct X9b

I would try a different driver or even directx 9 if someone could tell
me that this would fix the problem.  All of the games and sims that
I now have run fine (except the microsoft flight sims).  Direct x 9 is
hard to back off and new drivers seem to be a gamble.  Thanks, QwikStik
