Man, time is a factor here.
Now that I have been saving the whole year for an Athlon64/Geforce6800 rig this x-mas, there's gonna be a huge improment for my current k6-2 450 3dfx v3k2 rig...

Dont forget that the voodoo 5 isnt rendering all the fancy stuff that the radeon does ;)

Still methinks it is erg gaaf dat die ouwe voodoo het nog zo goed doet. Remeber, 3dfx used to supply a 10 years warranty, whereas the current cards go for 12-24 months warranty.

I certainly sometimes miss the days 3dfx was king with their voodoo-cards. Alas this is the past and it will never be like then thanks to Nvidia.

I sorta felt a grudge against Nvidia eversince.
Never understood why they didn't use those then powerful names of '3dfx'and 'voodoo'. Later on I wanted to believe the Geforce FX contained superior 3dfx Rampage/Sage/Mojo/Fear technologie.
That chipset being a letdown I was glad it did not contain 3dfx power (some even roumoured 3dfx mojo cousing the failure).

Today the leading 'CPU-bakers' are Nvidia & Ati.
The Geforce 6800 seems to be the current leading card on the market,
(can you spell D O O M III?), so planning to buy a new pc by Xmas it most likely is going to be an (socket 939) Athlon 64 (clock speed to be decided yet) in combination with...the Nvidia Geforce 6800.
Will you believe I still have mixed-feelings about that inevetable aquisition?

I even have serious thoughts about reshacking (http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/) the 3dfx logo into the detonator driver of that card:D

Meanwhile Scott Sellers is having a good time here: http://www.azulsystems.com/company_scott.php Why don't you write him an e-mail for an interview to be posted overhere?

Maybe the 3dfx-lineage of this newsgroup will make Scott allow for that interview out of sentimental reasons?

Better performance with the SSFT 15 drivers than with the AS 3.0?
(I'm also using a V3 board under XP, see below)

What are the advantages?
Any tests-results/comparisons available somewhere on the boards?

Voodoo3 and Velocity Discussions / Conspiracies

@ dud: LOL we nearly have the same sys specs.
Only your PIII overrules my K6-2 although they both run at 450 mhz.
Guess...no conspiracies for my system [V]

@SuperFurryFurryThing:
I asked this because I thought Amigasport was specifically for the v3 c.s. and Amigamerlin could not be used on my V3-board, but you are sure I can use the AmigaMerlin without a problem?

Well, after visiting these boards for about a year now,
I finally decided to join. Got my 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 since the beginning of 2000.
Been using it up 'till now.

Since WindowsXP and 3dfx's demise I got more involved in getting myself software proper working. First sucess though the 3dfxHQ drivers (v3-w2k-xp-1.09-beta10.exe)in tandem with V-control. Later on I switched to AmigaSport 3.0 final, which I've been using eversince.

Now this site mentions Amigamerlin 3.1, which contains these SFFT 15 drivers and would also be usable for my v3k2. Is this true? Is it better than what I use currently (Amigasport 3.0)? What differnces would I experiance?

Greetings & respect,
