Feck it, I couldn't sleep.  Conclusion translated on the other site (albeit without a dictionary and not proofread; who knows, it might turn out better that way).

Not really.  I did up to the end of page 25, but I haven't touched it since, as I no longer have an office to work in due to changes in family circumstances that also effectively nixed my free time.  I've not really been back here since - I don't think i've logged onto 3dfxzone for a good 3-4 months.

I'll post the small additional part I have finished on the 3dcenter thread immediately.  Given that there is only the conclusion to complete, it might be more equitable for someone else to get that bit out of the way, since most of the information they need would be in the rest of the document anyhow.  Alternatively I have a week's holiday in November and I could maybe do it then, but obviously that's another wait you'd have to deal with.  Your call.

(Incidentally, I was kinda expecting a rewrite of the first few paragraphs from other quarters ;) but it never happened.)

rofl: sent, let me know if you get it please.

Raff: I did try to e-mail you again and privmsg you here as well, but to no avail :/

Raff3DC/roflkopp: I'm getting towards the end of this (page 21, ~ 80%) but I could do with one of you checking what I've got to this point to make sure all the techy stuff is correct.  Can either of you help with that, and if so, where should I send it?

Cheers.

Raff: did you get my privmsg?

Hiya,

I had to leave off for a bit because unfortunately paid work and paying bills take priority over doing stuff I actually enjoy.  I started on it again last night, funnily enough, but obviously delays meant slower progress.  Estimate is 35% done; I should reiterate again that the article is very top-heavy and once the next, say, 25% or so is done the last bit is mostly discussion of benchmarks, which is far quicker to work through than, say, in-depth discussion of the 22-bit postfilter!

So yeah, don't worry, I'm still on it, but I wasn't kidding when I said time would be my main issue.

Quick update, I'm working my way through page 3 right now.  I'm trying to devote an hour or so an evening to it, but I don't always have the time spare :/

I'd be grateful if one of you could clarify what Texturruhe is, though, I don't even know what this is referring to?  I've never heard the term before... [Edit: is it texture smoothing?]

I'm getting to the end of the first page - only spent about an hour and a half on it so far because of other commitments.  Rough estimate is about 7%.  The article's very top heavy - most of the content is at the start, so that's where most of the work's going to be.

I'll just keep plodding on as and when I can, but if there's a specific section you want me to look at, let me know.

QuoteOriginally posted by Raff3DCCould you do the translation? Or a part of it. You're from UK, it would be the best understandable version for english-speaking people.
I've cribbed all the text and started working on it, but I am fairly short on free time at the moment, between paid translation (I'm a freelance translator) and other work and looking after a sproglet.  I'm happy to do it - it's always nice to have a translation that I'm actually interested in! - but I can't make any promises on the "when" aspect.

That would be useful ;)

Quote15 December 2000 signaled the end of an era: on that date over six years ago, 3DFx, the pioneers of filtered polygon acceleration on PCs, closed its doors.  nVidia, their main rival, bought them out for 112 million dollars - patents, technologies, the lot.  It was a black day for the community, which up to then had been considerable in size.  But one question remained: could they have signed off with a flourish?
Shall I continue?

I imagine it's no different from any other app, but I'm curious as to why you're not using the native Glide plugin for both?  Project64 in particular has a very good Glide implementation.

Quote/edit: Voodoo3 heatsinks would also fit horizontally
I presume like TM30's post up near the top in the thread?

I'm not especially well up on this sort of thing, so I'm wondering how these are fitted; any clues would be appreciated, since I'm looking at something similar myself as part of a quieter computer effort.  If anyone can give me an idea as to how well they cool, too, I'd appreciate it.

I notice the so-called "anti-hot-coffee" 1.01 patch also fixes some issues with crashes in the advanced graphics options.  Anyone care to see if it makes the above problems go away?  (I'd check myself, but I've got the GF3 in at the moment)

And why are you posting this in a 3dfx area again?

I think the fact that you have to spend hours on Google to find them speaks volumes.
