Post by: Raptor on 09 December 2004, 21:38:15
OK. I'm building this small pc, very compact,(p200, 64 mb ram, a two partition disk with DOS on one and win95 on another part., sb128pci, remote controlled cd-rom, built in speakers,...) it's gonna have 3dfx gamepad, kinda like x-box 10 years ago...:) I'm not familiar with pre v3 voodoos. So I need help. I'm gonna put one or two v2 12mb in and I'm thinking of having a tv-out capable 2d card to export picture to a TV. Is this doable? About software, probably just in win95, what about hardware? If not possible, one more thing, which 2d card then to use? I know productiva G100 used to be the best. And win95 because I think win98 has problems with NFS1SE, which this computer must run. Thanks.

..SLI is redundant (your cpu way too slow) unless you really need the 1024*768 ingame resolution (single v2 can do only 800*600 max).install windows, the latest official driver (here (http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo2.htm)),and you are ready to fly.as for the 2d card, any will do,some old s3 or matrox.never heard of "productiva" before..

Well, I plan to put in 2 v2's, and play games that in the old days required much less than p200pro (which I tend to overclock to 250mhz), so I don't see why cpu is the problem. So I guess tv-out is a no go?

tv out should be no problem, just use a primary card that has one.

Or try to dig up an Obsidian 2, which has a TV-out itself :)

Canopus, Miro have tv outputs also and will be less expensive than a Quantum3D card. ;)

So far no success, I'm looking at 5 eBays, so far just one or two Miro voodoo1 boards (that also have tv-out) and a quantum x-24 daugther card...

That will really easier to find a Miro card than a Canopus and since you live in Europa, go on Ebay Germany.
But something important : you will need always to get the original cable sold with the card because it's not "standard".

Congratulations :)
They are excellent Voodoo2's ((but) with a "special" design).
