Hi all well the past few days I grabbed my 5000 AGP and started to play with it again but then in a whole different way by mixxing the Official 3dfx driver with AmigaMerlin's AmigaMerlin 2.9 3dfx Tools Control Panel, so here is how I got it all going, alot different that last time ;)

Since that there are quite a few people that have a Voodoo 5 5000, AGP, PCI or both types of models.

The idea is to test this card under Windows 2000 Professional + SP4 with the latest 3dfx WHQL drivers. :)
Well that didn't really work so now I'm back to 98SE NL + UnOfficial Service Pack 2.03NL and go on from there.

So here's the card of today's test run again :

3dfx Voodoo 5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 [8D]

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/6873-2/DSC00912.jpg

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/6876-2/DSC00914.jpg

If there are more people with Voodoo 5 5000 AGP's or even PCI's feel free to join along!

So here's the system setup which I''ll be testing the 5000 AGP in:

Sveta

AMD AthlonXP 2700+
ASUS A7V333-R VIA Apollo KT333 [Main 3dfx flying testbed also]
1x Twinpack 2x 512MB PC-2700 Kingston Valueram
3dfx Voodoo 5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 :)
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 Platinum eX[ Gift from dad, really]
1x Seagate Barracuda V 120GB 7200,7 rpm ATA HDD
Thermaltake Pure Power 520Watt EPS 12V with Power Station 5,25" Docking bay
LG 48.16x DVD Rom Player
Plextor Plex-Writer PX48/24/48A
Sony Floppy Disc Drive 3,5"

Windows 98SE NL + Unofficial Service Pack 2.03NL
DirectX 9.0C
3dfx Voodoo4/5 V1.04.00 - The Latest WHQL Drivers.
AmigaMerlin 2.9 3dfx Tools Control Panel

The Voodoo 5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 works great with this driver + Control Panel combination!

3dfx Voodoo4/5 V1.04.00 WHQL + AmigaMerlin 2.9's 3dfx Tools!

Now FSAA x4 works splendidly in OpenGL, Direct3D as Glide  [:o)]

I used Unreal: Return To Na Pali to test the Glide API @ 1024 x 768 x16 in Glide with FSAA x4 :) and man the game really looks nice and runs fluid also [8D]

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20157-1/Return+to+na+pali+5000+AGP+FSAA+x4+1024+x768+x16+b.png

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20166-1/AM2_9+Panel+_+3dfx+WHQL+driver+mixed+FSAA+x4_png.png

the pics have been compressed to .png formats just to spare the image quallity, they are a bit dark but the FSAA x4 is very well visable, nice stait lines no jaggies ;)

So here's Unreal Tournament 2003 Ver 2225 Final.

1024 x 768 x 32 No FSAA @ Normal settings

Got more ingame UT2003 shots here they are with the modified 3dfx Logo for the intro of the game just to give it that extra 3dfx toutch :)

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20185-1/3dfx+logo+surprise.png

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20188-1/5000+AGP+in+Action+a.png

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20191-1/5000+AGP+in+Action+b.png

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20194-1/5000+AGP+in+Action+c.png

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20197-1/5000+AGP+in+Action+d.png

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/d/20203-1/5000+AGP+in+Action+e.png

Some maps were high detailed which made the 5K AGP create slowdowns with some pressure, but it was very playble in most cases which did surprise me for a 32Meg V5 [:P]

Anyways so far so good Jedi Knight Jedi Academy is next, running UT2003 on high settings was like watching dia frames [8D]

Okay here are the pics of the 5000 AGP system setup   8)

there it is then great job Oscar!!!! [:o)]:D [8D] it's a place for 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 users, like The Voodoo 5 6000 Resource Group once was, still miss that place like all other 6000 lads do, oh well @ least we have a place for our 6K's again but it will never be the same as The Voodoo 5 6000 Resource Group once was. [:(]

Anyways @ least we have something back for our Voodoo5 6000 goodness :)

But thanx again Oscar for creating such a place for the V6K people [8D]

Hi all does anybody know what happened to the comdex 1999 Voodoo5 5500 AGP Rev A0 board:

here the card we all know better the Rev.A1 0900:

as you can see it has no 4.7 Volt coils in the back area near the Molex Power connector, I have seen cards much like this one but instead of small SMD like transistors infront of the VSA-100 chips the cards we all know have small round cappacitors there instead.

Anyways If somebody has this unique card would be nice to see ultra High res pics of it, and some more info on what speeds it's cores and ram run and what PCB date it would have, would week 48 1999 be a possibillity?

cheers,

Ben Kenobi.

I was thinking and wondering, about 3dfx when they were trying to make a comeback with thier Rampage card but they just didnt make it.

I found A song for that sad moment that would fit in nicely:

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance [With 3dfx's Rampage]
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
oh and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back [nVidia I mean about this line]
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

3dfx was for me a very important company, and sometimes I cry that they don't exsist anymore[:(][:(][:(]

Man I miss them just too much[V]

The only way to remember them well is come to this forum and also collect thier card designs [B)]
