Hmm coming back to this topic, it kinda got me to an idea...

Mkaes me wonder if  Voodoo4 & 5 users with 64 or 128MB per VSA-100 chip would run the test our friend omega_supreme did way back in 2004...

Voodoo4 4500 with 64 or 128MB VRAM

Test reso for all configs  in games: UT GOYE 1999 & Descent 3: 1600x1200x16/32
To test 32 Bit you'll need to force 32 Bit rendering for OpenGL & Glide in your 3dfx Tools or Kool Smokey's V.Control 1.82b

Voodoo 5 5500  AGP/PCI/PCI Mac with 2x 32 or 2x 64MB,
Changling AGP/PCI with 2x 64MB or 2x 128MB

Voodoo 5 6000 AGP with 4x 32MB or 4x 64MB
S.U.X. 6000 PCI 4x 32MB or 4x 64MB
Snow White AGP 4x 32MB or 4x 64MB
Strange God AGP/PCI 4x 32MB or 4x 64MB
Strange God PCI + DVI & HDMI 512MB Prototype by Anthony

Other glide games, Freespace2 should be a fun run, the nebula's especially, this taxed out even a Voodoo5 6000 with it's default 4x 32MB VRAM config, makes me wonder how a doubled VRAM Buffer would do, I think better since the max FSAA Setting with more VRAM, the card may not choke any more, just my guess.

SO yea, if anyone feels like testing, I am interested in your results.
#2
oh no worries and me yea doing alright, been collecting diecast scale 1:200 Boeing 747's for the most of it.
I still have two 3dfx cards, as for CD-ex 1.51 this program I use to convert all my CD's to MP3 320knps, thereby keeping the CD's in good shape, mainly for my Sting & Zillion collection and some other albums I bought over the numerous years.

Looks like you actually updated this ofurm, I wonder if any of the older guys are around like hanksemenec, Nightbirdm, AMigaMerlin, SiRtA, yea  so many others, geez, there are times I wonder where everyone went.

I run x-3dfx at facebook btw, if you have FB  let me know and I'll invite ya right away.
You can find us here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/x3dfx

Also I tried to edit my projfile but I get an error that no HTML code is allowed, which is odd because the photo in my signature uses basic HTML rofl

Hey all, it's beena while since I posted anything useful here, but here is something that can help many of you.

For those that use CD-ex 1.51 or any other program , here is how to setup the updated Remote feeb.

CDex setup: Make sure that you use a valid email.
The path should be: /~cddb/cddb.cgi

For other CD to MP3 convertors go here for more info

https://gnudb.org/howto.php

This has solved a lot of issues for me, now you can convert all my CD's to 320kbps MP3 or any other format you desire without losing the quality of your CD's from over use.

Hereby I hope this helps some of you here, also shared this at x-3dfx & Voodooalert.

Rock on & stay safe.

Theres no correct aspect ratio. Cards/drivers are not made for it.

The Math behind (most) 3D games - Perspective Projection
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0_ONQQ5ZNM
That then concludes you are totally wasting your time, like you self said the cards never supported these models per hardware definition,  the result is a deform image also these games were never made to support 16:9 left alone 21:9, you're just making the games look terribly and deformed and stretched out, I don't see the point of this entire thing.

it's as if you are trying to watch a 4:3 aspect ratio movie on a 16:9 screen it looks warped and stretched out aka deformed, this doesn't improve the game experience bar nothing it just messes up the field of view.

Or if using a bad sound card like a Vortex 2 with an Advanced amplified yet the sound quality is still poor of quality, as it will sound like loud tin cans.

In the end people have really tried to improve such things with many methods but like this one I don't see it as a success.

Just stick to 4:3 gents, if you want your games to look awesome how they were in their actual times.

Hmm, an interesting project maybe? But the games look terrible ,deformed and stretched out.
As I replied in your video I type the same here, because I don't have any better words to describe it.

The aspect Ratio of 4:3 will always be the best for 3dfx graphics cards, no doubts around this, the games of their time were also made to support this aspect ratio only, as were the native drivers from 3dfx.

That goes for 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x 864, 1280x960 to 1600x1200, these will always be the best reso's for the V3, V4 & V5 boards especially if using the 4:3 aspect ratio and for 5:4 1280x1024x/16/32 is also very nice to use, wide screen never was really a big deal back then and there are still plenty of 5:4 TFT's around left alone CRT's as well, going wide screen kind of ruins the original aspect as well.=, I may as well use my Radeon RX Vega 64 then if doing something like that for example, I really don't see the point in it all.

As for this experiment, showing the 21:9 aspect ratio... well to be very honest about it, no thanks, it ruins the actual aspect of the games, left alone the shapes of the map, the player, the weapons, it's all stretched out and very deformed, as if it's not a native thing anymore, it's not right in that perspective.

Thus for 21:9 in your video I am not a fan of it all because of that, everything just looks very wrong, the native look of the games is also ruined by this.

Just my two cents on it.

my friend Stephan Kleemann can surely help you out with this, he also repaired my V5 PCI Mac plus renewed it's VRAM with 6ns Hynix SDRAM, he made a Voodoo5 5500 Trouble shooting guide here:
https://www.pct-server.de/~stephan/~hpage4/3dfx-troubleshooting-guide/
just click the Voodoo5 5500 tab and it takes you to the trouble shooting page with all the need to know information.

You can make contact with him here:
https://www.pct-server.de/~stephan/~hpage4/about-me/#contact

HE should know the values you are seeking as well.

Here the V5 PCI Mac he fixed for me:

Thanks for the info!
Good to know as also I might need help to fix DVI problem on my v4.

Yea I am sure  Backfire can help ya out with that  :)
my V5 PCI Mac was used to support that conversion project, at VA I got here as Gold Leader, here the pdf of the needed parts to make that conversion a possibility:

Hey hey hey! That's a sweet looking card you have there. Arguably better than AGP version in visual quality when using DVI.
Can you say what the fan model is? Also are those self-printed 3dfx stickers? I've been looking for a good 3-wire replacement for AAVID fans (7 mm thick as don't want to interfere with next slot).
Hey man and thanks!

My friend Stephan Kleemann did the fans & the decals you an make contact with him here:
https://www.pct-server.de/~stephan/~hpage4/about-me/#contact

The fans I use are the same size as the AAVid's yea, but better as these are industrial fans, they have higher rpm's and give improved airflow, the burnt copper heatsinks on the rear also help extract more heat [8D]

Stephan has repaired and renovated over 160 Voodoo5 graphics cards  with around 16 Voodoo5 6000's  he has over 45 years of electrical engineering experience and repairs Boeing 737BG's for Tui Airlines Germany for the past 25 years, he is packed with top tier experience>

At the Voodoo Alert Forum he goes there as Backfire, if you want anything 3dfx related to be fixed, maintained to even full recaps  Backfire aka Stephan Kleemann is your go to guy 8)

As for my V5 PCI Mac yea it's over 21 years old now but still doing well thanks to all the maintenance it's been through, the games I play most with it are these:

Descent2 with D2X Rebirth 0.58.1 + 2X Retro 1.3a
Descent 3 1.5Beta + Pyromania 1.5
Freespace 2
Falcon 4.0 + Free Falcon 3.2
SSI's Su-27 Flanker 2.0 + 2.51 3dfx V5 Glide Patch
C&C Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge & Purple Alert Mod 4.0.28
Quake II + Lithium Pack II
Quake III Arena PR 1.32
Unreal Tournament GOTYE 1999 + Operation Na Pali 1.3.0 Single Player Campaign

And some others [8D]

Here some wallpapers I made in combination with some classic  scale 1:200diecast B747's from my 44 part scale 1:200 diecast B747 model collection, I thought to combine my love for 3dfx & the Boeing 747's and these turned out quite well, I may make a few more in the future.

Hey all :)

it's been a while I did a topic here, well a decent one regarding 3dfx graphics card s I own personally.
This one was very personal; it's my old 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB Rev.A1 2900 which has PC Bios 1.18_DVI, I flashed my card with gdonovan's help back in October of 2005 I believe it was.

As for the card it has been like almost everywhere From China to me in the Netherlands to Adelaide, South Australia fora Polymer Recap and to Near Hanover in Germany for VRAM replacements and other kinds of needs.

it has been a hell of a ride but this card again has come on top of all it's craziness and well here some pics of the card from where I bought it to what it is now, just to take you guys through this long ass trip :D

Here all the reworks done to the card:

Backfire's Repairs & Reworks:
01. Renewed Ceramic SMD's on the rear
02. 6ns Hynix VRAM renewal for the main VSA-100 Graphics Chip
03. Renewed Heatsinks & Fans for the VSA's topside
04. Renewed Power Supply Controller Chips
05. Fixed the IC U510 Chip's pins
06. Replaced 4x TSOP-86
07. 6ns Hynix VRAM renewal for the slave VSA-100 Graphics Chip

SWZSSR's friend's Recap & Modifications:
01. Full Polymer Recap
02. Burnt Copper Heatsinks for the VSA's rear side

Which is quite the bucket list, right! [8D]

Here the card  taken in 2005, original capacitors  6ns Toshiba SDRAM & crappy AAVid fans rofl [:o)]
Even the main VSA's fan is tilted xD

Here the card after the Polymer recap and with the copper heatsinks applied by a friend from SWZSSR, this happened in Adelaide, South Australia in 2021, the card still has the same crappy AAvid fans:

Rear view:

https://abload.de/img/3dfxvoodoo55500pcimacvoklc.jpg

Here the card with the VRAM of the main VSA-100 renewed by Backfire and some SMD's also renewed etc
New Industrial fans were also applied and 3dfx decals as well by Backfire, this happened July 08 of 2021

And here the card as it is now with the VRAM of the slave VSA-100 renewed, basically it's a new card now , only it's VSA-100's have never been replaced, they been on it since week 29, year 2000, which is over 21 years!

Hey  Gold Leader here from VA  it seems that Backfire & I kind of helped ya out with this one after I Let him use my V5 PCI Mac for further research.

What ever happened i hope it did help ya out here and there  :)

Also it would be great to make this forum more active all because English is the main used language one 90% of the world understands.

If you came here to earn money without proving on what you are trying to sell, as in posting no images photos or videos of your items, that does come over as doubtful.

I have asked you kindly a few times to mail me owith photo's of videos of your offering.
you replied to mm with the following:

Got your message will reply soon something came up. Sounds good

And not one time you actually even made time to do that simple thing.

Which would be around 5 to 10 minutes to make pics and send a mail, you get the idea, even I did play along but I somehow knew something fishing was going down.

Even you as a new member,  there is no introduction of what who you are why you joined this forum, it's all kind of vague.

Hereby  I reported this thread to the owner & Moderation team of this forum.

If sending an email is too hard or left alone posting a photo on what you are trying to sell, well it's been about a week and response is near to no where.

Hereby I have lost total interest.

It's been 3 days and I have not received an email from you yet, for all I know it would not take longer than 5 a 10 minutes to make some photo's of the item you are trying to sell here and not 3 days xD
Despite you being a new member, I find it strange I got no reply yet, it doesn't add up, if I offer someone like an X-24 I mail then indirectly on what I am offering or I post pics of the item in the forum, photos help prove what one is selling, and so far I have seen nothing.

Hereby I hope you can email the photos of that X-24 you are trying to sell here.

it could be you don't know how things work here, if that is the case;

To send someone an email you click their account name and send an email that auto links to the member's email address.
This forum uses a very old platform, hence it is different that most other places.

Also I think you'd be breaking as forum rule for not have post photo's of what you are selling, there is that as well ;)
