Hi,
i have a voodoo5 5500 agp.
for the past four years i have never got any problems with this card.
since last week i can only play games in single chip configuration.
now, this might be a fried gpu but in directx diagram i can run d3d tests and 4xfsaa activated. with 2xfsaa and with fastest performance configuration i get a pc lockup.
how can this be possible?
the cube in d3d tests has strange paterns and the back screen has vertical lines.
i have cleaned all the dust.
i have installed this card on another computer and also a new install of WINDOWS but the problem remains.
in direct draw all tests goes well (single chip only, fastest performance, 2xfsaa and 4xfsaa).
what i don´t understand is why d3d tests runs fins with 4xfsaa if one gpu is fried (but with that strange patterns and vertical lines across the screen).
do you know where i can get a schematich diagram of this card?
thank´s
Do both V5 fans work ?
hi nightbird,
yes, they are working.
Hum, difficult here.
I would think that you had tried several drivers in the same time or a generic MS driver was installed.
What's your OS ?
Perhaps a stupid question but you don't set the 3dfx tools in single chip only ?
Your card is not overclocked ?
windows me and directx 9.0
it´s not overclocked.
never had any problem.
the problem is that i can only play in single chip configuration, not with fastest performance, 2xfsaa or 4xfsaa configurations.
i would assume that this might be a fried gpu but when i test this card in dxdiagram (with 4xfsaa or single chip) i have no lockup.
either the heatsink glue is coming loose (which will happen over time) I had one come off in my hand when pulling the card, or your winXP just stompped all over your drivers AGAIN.......try reinstalling WORKING drivers.
the solution was to get another one on ebay.
now i have a spare voodoo5.
i guess one gpu is dead, the two fans are working and the heatsinkers are well fitted.
