Does anyone uses the 1920x1080 resolution? My Dell U2212HM monitor doesn't autoadjust correctly when I'm using my Voodoo4 4500 AGP card. There are black bars on the left and on the right of the picture. The monitor autoadjust correctly when I connect it to a more recent video card (AMD HD6850).
That is because the Radeon has DVI output (=digital) so that adjustment is automatic; for the older VGA (=analog) connetion, you have to do it manually - if 1920x1080 (widescreen) resolution is even included in Voodoo's drivers.

Thank you so much SFFT, for your continuous effort in making this driver better and better.

One suggestion: could you please include the mode 1680x1050 in default .inf, I know how to add it myself but I thought since 1920x1080 is in - why not this one.

And one question: any news on the hidden surface removal option - is it rational to expect it someday enabled by default for all apps Glide, DX, OGL? [:I]

Just a quick reminder so it won't be percieved as though as I'm not posting results:
My friend has that dreaded 8MB V2 (and now also one of my 12MB V2's) so - when he'll test it out I will of course right away post results here. ;)

Thank you very much - both of you. :D
I thought if it works it might work as 8+8MB and I'm also glad 1024 might be accessible.
I'll report the results.

Some help forum this is.
Hasn't anyone had 2 mismatched, mis-memory-matched Voodoo2's? [:0]

Greetings!

I was wandering - is it possible with the last (4.0) 2K/XP FastVoodoo2 drivers to join in SLI an 8MB and a 12MB Voodoo2 and expect the 1024x768 resolution to be available in the old games, e.g. Rayman 2?
Because the thing is I have two Magic 3D Voodoo2 cards 12MB but that's already working. Now my friend has got an 8MB V2 card, from Creative I think, and would like to play Rayman2 and perhaps some other games in 1024 on V2 SLI so I thought I'd give him my 3rd Voodoo2 card that is 12MB from I don't know exactly which vendor.
So in a lot less words:
FastVoodoo2 XP 4.0 + Voodoo2 8MB + Voodoo2 12MB (different vendors) = 1024x768 achievable? :)

Thank you.

Well - that is really nice and all, alex.turovsky, but I don't see any antialiasing being done in that screenshot, neiter vertically, nor horisontally.

BTW - nice mod posted there on your forum. An english translation would be even better. :-)

Just saw on the main page - the SFFT Alpha 57 is out.

One tiny correction: www.urbanterror.net/news.php - You left out the "s". ;)

Hi!

You wrote in the original, italian news article, that the GFFX 8500GT will be faster than the GFFX 7900GS, which is not true. The news source, VR-Zone says it'll be slightly better than GFFX 7600GS, which is basically another crappy card, but that's already besides the point. :-)

I have one question - is there any way of SFFT or someone else, that perhaps would help him, could implement (improve) some form of hidden surface removal (not at all necessarily configurable) for Voodoo cards?
Because the sheer fillrate required in the modern games (e.g. Quake4) is killing them...

Is there anyone that helps SFFT or is he on his own?
What about all the neat projects that were active some years ago like Glide_XP and all the drivers from other people like Mikepedo, x3dfx,...couldn't those people all join SFFT's great efforts?

(I'm really interested about that HSR because it's the only sure way to really boost performance...)

Yes, dborca, you do know quite a lot of the Voodoo architecture. ;)

I know about the Rampage development and a huge disturbance, called Banshee - an evil fairy, that literally destroyed 3dfx, and it wasn't even all that good. From what I know, people only bought it because it was 3dfx and 2D+3D+AGP. Noone really cared, that it only has 1 pixel and one texel unit and a slight increase in core/mem speed (10MHz), making it ~11% better in pixel fillrate and ~45% WORSE in texel fillrate than Voodoo2, which apparently was a tradeoff for having 2D onboard aswell. And if we look at Voodoo1 through Voodoo3, we see not much feature improvements, other, than adding TMUs core clock increases and that's why AND because it was supposed to be the first DX8 part, I though Rampage to be quite an improvement over Voodoos, after all, NVIDIA has made quite a conquest, feature-wise, with GeForce256/2 GTS.
I read once on Beyond3D, that one member there had tested the Rampage and it was quite a kicker - better, than Radeon 8500 and almost like a GeForce4 Ti4600. Though, no exact numbers/test results were given. I'm not sure if he had a 2-Rampage/1-Sage card, I think so.... :)

What, I-N-C-A-P-A-B-L-E of implementing new features, dborca?!! [:0]
What are you basing this on, just lack of few new features in Voodoo5? [:0]
I really didn't know that, so you're saying they just hit the wall and surrendered, i.e. they said they got enough of the graphics business - let's do something else? Is that what you're saying, because it's quite shocking to all (ex-)3dfx fans, I'm sure. Though that cheap "merger" also gets kind of explained this way....

Stop writing non-sense and explain my post to yourself instead. [V] Do you really think 3dfx was going to stay that reluctant to implement new features? They expressed a strong intentions for DX and OGL, though only at the end...
Although all of this is off-topic anyway.
