Title: V5 artifact problems.
Post by: dymeh on 29 June 2014, 06:49:08
Hi there, just got back into this after many years, but my V5 that I bought recently for $15 is showing artifacts from boot. By artifacts meaning red and green cursor faces spread randomly across the screen. Both fans are working, and I've tried the card on 2 different computers with the same problem. Too good to be true at that price I guess. Any ideas on what the problem could be, or is the card stuffed??? Thanks.

Hi,
Overclocking ?
Try to underclock the card below the factory defaults (166 mhz).

Thanks for your reply. I had a look around google, but because I'm so new to this card what is the best/easiest way to underclock the V5? One other thing is that I'm using windows 2000, is that the best OS for this card?

Update------ I underclocked the card with v control and unfortunately there was no difference. Could there be a bios problem, or the bios been hard coded at a higher clock speed??

it can be a memory issues - try to check the solder points of each memory chip, maybe you can spot a unsoldered pin...

can you post a picture with the front and back of the card ?

How much you underclocked the card?
