Title: CoD2 [linux] Help with 3D-Analyze conf
Post by: falotron on 21 May 2008, 11:57:27

Hi all!
I am a Linux user (Ubuntu 8.04)
I have installed CoD2 & 3D-Analyze with wine (wine-1.0-rc1)
My graphic card is GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X
I have latest NVidia drivers for Linux & DirectX9 installed on wine

I can run CoD2 through 3D-Analyze, but I cannot configure it 100% properly
So I ask all of you for help about what options should I check on 3D-Analyze for optimal performance with my system

Thx!

Hi,
CoD2 have a DX7 compatible mode, you shouldn't need 3DA to make it work

Hi,

If I run CoD2SP_s.exe without 3D-Analyze I get this CoD_console error

----- R_Init -----
Getting Direct3D 9 interface...
Pixel shader version is 0.0
Vertex shader version is 1.1
Video card or driver doesn't accelerate dynamic textures.
Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled.
Video card or driver doesn't support enough texture stages / coordinates.
Error during initialization:
Video card or driver doesn't support enough texture stages / coordinates.

So I need 3D-Analyze to run the game

Check you have selected dx7 compatibility mode in the game options

Check you have selected dx7 compatibility mode in the game options

Graphic Options inside the game are changed to DX7, yes
But the error remains the same if I run the EXE without 3D-Analyze

I got it!
After several tries I've found what option was missing to make the graphical performance of the game OK

It was the "Z-Buffer" option, checking "force 16bit zbuffer (with stencil)" it works! :D

I installed 3d analyzer and I checked all the right boxes, and saved the batch file to my desktop(Ive got COD2) and when I click on the batch file it just reopens 3d analyzer. I even tried clicking on 'run' and it does nothing. Any help?

Open the batch file with Notepad and check what is written into it
It should be: "Path_to_3DAnalyze.exe" /EXE=Path_to_game.exe
