Title: Red Baron 3D~ Best All-Round WWI Flight Sim
Post by: LW_Hearse on 02 September 2003, 05:32:53
Hello,

Just a note, RB3D is simply the best. The online community is great with plenty of mods and graphic additions. In particular, last month the release of "FULL CANVAS JACKET" marked perhaps RB3d's final evolution. This add-on is not for free but there is plenty of other things out there making this game one not to be missed for fl;ight sim enthusiasts. I've heard that as this time over 900 copies of FCJ have been ordered so we expect an influx of new pilots in the future.

Nothing is more exciting then entering the online arena for the first time but be prepared to be the whipping post for awhile as the pilots there are old hands. You can also join online squadrons that fly their unique paint schemes .

generally, hacking is not an issue , although there are always a couple of griefers that most MMP games are victim to.

The campaign game allows you to fly with historical aces and squadrons and even lead the squadron if you wish. Other notable patches are "The Hell's Angels  Superpatch" and "revenge of the Jastas"

Boxed copies can still be found on ebay or I'm sure if you visit the Wings of Valor forum, you might even find someone who will send you a free copy. We'd love new pilots just tell the LW_Hearse sent ya!

Salute! from Hearse of the Lone Wullfe Squadron

S! Hearse.

I played RB3D years ago as Rebells_Shadow.  I stumbled across the FCJ stuff a little while ago and I am starting to get excited about flying again.  I am totally impressed with the work that has been done for this game by the community and I have no trouble paying for all the hard work that has been done.  I also bought a Voodoo 5500 PCI on Ebay but I haven't installed it yet.  I tried to install RB3D last night but a stupid malfunctioning CD reader has scratched it so badly I can't complete the install.  Fortunately my brother in law has the game and is going to burn me a copy.

See you in the skies!

S! Shadow,

Are you still a Rebell? I think maybe that squadron has been disbanded. If you are into Hun planes , why not give the Lone Wulffe Squadron a consideration. We're pretty laid back, no ranks, orders etc. (We do fly all planes though). Lately, due to real life issues with many of our squadies our numbers have been dwindling. We could use some fresh blood but many of the larger squadrons are recruiting allmost everyone new ( ie: RAC and RAF). I think our active roster at the moment might only be a half- dozen of us.

PS. Did you hear about the new WWI sim in the works? it's called Knights Over Europe

Take care! S! Shadow
