What driver are you using?

I would first try the latest Official 3dx driver (no modified or 3rd party) and if that doesn't work i would try the Creative release drivers for the cards.

looking here it looks like they even have the release drivers for it

have you tried the Win98 Reference Drivers?

thats great :-)  its kindof nice to look at what we have today with the Titan and now the R9 295X from AMD coming out and the sheer raw power that these cards produce and to think it all started back with a small chip by 3dfx called the Voodoo :-)

its most like just going to be named

Club-3D Voodoo Joker

they are a small company that makes ATI cards.

http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products.en.html

They already have
HD 7850 Royal Knights
HD 7870 XT Joker
HD 7950 Royal King
HD 7850 Royal Queen
HD 7970 Royal Ace

any "Voodoo" named card will just be a variant of an ATI chipset.

if you run into glide problems with the voodoo5 typically running it in Single chip mode for the game fixes it..

also keep in mind that the 5500 will stay cool enough even with a card next to it.. my 3dfx PC has that setup..  what i did is installed the mounting screw that holds the card in and then pushed the cards apart as far as i could then tighted the screws.. that gives you that little bit of clearance you need.. technically the v5 5500 is a single slot card though and i didn't notice any real temperature problems with it..

as usual though, make sure you have adequate airflow in the case.. that more than any effects heat.

hmm not sure how you will get them any smaller than the stock heatsink..

my suggestion would be to look into chipset heatsinks as they are probably about the right size and i know you can get plenty of nice passive heatsinks for chipsets (Thermaltake HR05 comes to mind)

something like this http://www.xoxide.com/xigmaetk-portercn881-chipsetcooler.html you could even bend the heatpipes to be parallel and then position it in any direction you want and stay pretty cool..

this is the HR05 SLI edition which would serve teh same purpose too

which games are you having a problem with that will run on the voodoo3 but not on the voodoo2?

IMO ditch the Voodoo3, a pair of V2 in SLI pretty much matched the voodoo3 in performance

the v2 sli is 360Mtexels while the v3 300 is 333Mtexels

the 3k had a little bit more memory at 16Mb but if you look at the performance numbers the v2sli only lagged behind the 3k by no more than 9%

so unless there is some game that runs on the v3 and not on the v2 sli i would just save the headache and go with the v2's

Most Memorable - Motoracer.

I tried it on the Matrox Mystique and it was ok, tried it on the Voodoo and i was blown away.. it was amazing how well the game played - plus the Orchid "Click" became synonymous with awesome! :)
