..using the latest SFFT.you will have to run in a window and set your desktop to 16bit if you want to launch the game:

runs fast enough (athlon xp 3000 CPU),but looks bad, mainly because most of the textures are larger than 256*256.It would look WAY better with sw rescalling, but I dont think someone is going to do sw rescaling for D3D..unless SFFT wants to make another miracle and copy the sw rescalling from mesafx somehow[8D]

yes you can,but you will be unable to change the advanced video settings ingame.I have created an autoexec file that will run the game with LOW settings,it should improve the FPS a bit.get it here (http://www.inc_exe.szm.sk/autoexec.cfg),put it to your CFG folder (under steam\blahblah\HL2).this will launch the game with all settings at "LOW"..

..actually,it looks like that ugliness is caused by texture compression.HL2 uses 256*256 textures for dx6 cards (and for LOW detail as well).

It looks like texture compression to me also.[xx(]
..hey, those guys made compressed textures for dx6 cards?[B)]

..ok,it seems like HL2 is using some texture format not supported by voodoo3.that means it it cannot be fixed..too bad.

maybe a patch could fix that? (decompress texture files for game)

nope.its not texture compression thats causing the problem (texture compression can be disabled easily).when you check the console,it says: failed to create dx8 texture (or something similar,I dont have it installed anymore),apparently HL2 requires some texture format (24bit is my bet) that is not supported by the voodoo3..
