Title: Best V5 5500 Driver for OLD GAMES
Post by: dopoh on 03 March 2005, 20:59:26
Hi a friend of mine gave me his v5 and id like to put it in an old machine to play quakeworld mods in. theyre better looking than normal quakeworld but pretty much the same.. (www.fuhquake.net)
i looked at the voodoofiles driver section and was overwhelmed by the number of drivers out there! so what are the best quality drivers for win98se for older games like quakeworld? dont need any TnL or anything like that.
thanks a lot :-)

All the final beta added was the preliminary HSR stuff which didn't work anyway. D3D etc. was unchanged.

darkfalz:
dude, your signature is horrible - 21 line!!! if your post is 1 line long then 95% is junk, plus people usually don't care about config of your rig, so please, use 5 lines as a max.

btw, who owns voodoofiles?

In the 1.04.01b, you need to enable the HSR (by the registry) since it's disabled then it will work only with games based on the Q3 engine v 1.17 or earlier if i remember. Even for that you will need also to tweak the game.

I know my sig is huge, I tried to make it use a small font but it doesn't accept the codes... annoying. Maybe the board mod can fix this?

1.04.01 -beta should run quake on a Voodoo5 without problems.  You won't need to tweak it at all, it will run fluidly.  This is the kind of software that these cards were designed for.  Good choice. :)

-Edit: And Voodoofiles is disorganised and no longer has a forum.  The 3dfx.com site appears to be down as well...  other forums are very quiet also... evidence of the state of decay...  The end is nigh.
