Title: now here is a question for VERY advanced V2 users
Post by: ps47 on 27 March 2005, 16:09:55
I need to force the 24bbp->16bbp 4x4 ordered dither matrix to 2x2 for glide/opengl apps via an enviromental variable.(lets hope koolsmoky still visits the forum from time to time;))

and the reason? see for yourself:

Something has always surprized here : why only 4x4 or 2x2 dither ?

You get these pictures with what drivers ?

both pictures were taken on my voodoo2 SLI.first picture shows q3 using the original 3dfx glide2x (supports both 4x4x and 2x2 dither),the second one is using koolsmoky beta glide2x (dither is ALWAYS forced to 2x2).the trouble is that I cant use koolsmoky beta glide2x for all my games, because it always forces sync buffer swaps to refresh rate to 1,and that means all games that require this setting on 0 or 2 wont behave normally.the solution would be to force 2x2 dither on the original 3dfx glide2x,but I'm not sure if this is even possible without recompiling the glide..
