I recently upgraded my system to IMO the max for voodoo 5 (6K). I bought a MSI k7D master mainboard and 2 AMD Athlon MP 2800+ CPU's. So i started Quake 3 and i wanted to try out the SMP funtion (r_SMP 1). The games says to restart so i did (vid_restart and game shutdown and bootup) both result in a freeze before ID logo appears. I know that this doesnt have to do much with videocards, at least i think...but there seems to be a connection between videodrivers and SMP in Quake 3. I read something about the detonator drivers from nVidia that had problems with SMP. Now I also know there's just a few people with 2 CPU's but please can somebody tell me whats wrong? Amigamerlin i know you have 2 MP 2600's. Maybe you can try it. Or maybe you know if Amigamerlin 3.0 supports SMP or not? Atm i have no other videocard here to test. And i have tried bith win XP and win 98 se. I hope somebody knows this problem.....

However i am using it on my voodoo 5 and it wont work on this resolution. I cant blame the card either because when i put it on a 22" monnitor from Yiama it does work on 2048x1536. Some of you will probably remember i was trying to play quake 3 on this resolution a while ago. Even MesaFX was programmed to support this resolution. I've tried to change some ini files from sony and 3dfx but i wont help. It looks like a hardware conflict. I was hoping sombody could help me with this.

Video Game Screenshots / Kreed
01 July 2004, 16:27:59
Well Kreed seems to work on a voodoo 5. Not that its playable, i havn't seen such bad framerates since serious sam on my voodoo 3 2000 :D The flickering can be eliminated with the voodoo flicker fix of 3da but theres lots of bugs left. The most annoing one is the black textures. I've seen them before on a screenshot of hitman (somewhere on this forum). Its not the doom 3 killer people thougt it would be some years ago but is doesn look bad either. Tese are the results with a voodoo 5 6000, Win Xp and Amigamerlin 3.0 (640x480)

The screenshots are a bit dark but so is the game (not this dark) But in the last screenshot something went wrong with the gamma and now you can see what i mean with the "black textures". It would be nice if someone knew what this problem is although i dont think this game will ever be playable on a voodoo card.

I was deleting some files from my computer when i remembered i have a nice screenshot from unreal tournament in 1600x1200 with 8x fsaa enabled :) To me its old news but im not sure it is to you. When i told Amigamerlin about it he seemed pretty surprised by this so i figured some of you would like to see it too. Is a glide render so its only 16 bit. And becuase i made it a jpeg the quality has decreased enormously, im sorry for that but the original tga was around 7 megabyte. Well ill just put the picture here ill see what comes out.

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / 3dfx voodoo 5 6000

Hi people,
Nobody here knows me yet but i just got my v5 6k!
I bougt a latest revision from our friend Amigamerlin.
The card is doing really well. Q3 (1280x1024) went from 55 to 90
fps when i hooked up my 6000. At the moment it is not build in in my fastest system cause i still wanna play games like farcry:D Anyway
I put it in an untested mb from MSI. Its the KT3 Ultra-Aru. Amiga puts the rest of the info in the compatibility list. The rest of the system is : AMD Athlon 2100+ (not overclocked) and one clip of 512 MB DDR 333. The card was too big for my miditower but with a little bit of ironcutting it was no problem. As i said the card is awsome. Its as stable as my old friend the 5500 but a lot faster [8D] So there it is! Ow jeah one little question to ya all. Am i the only duth owner of a 6k!?!?!? Well thats it ill put a picture of my "precious" with the post so you van all see it :)
