Is there eny way to get Voodoo 5500 show windows in 1680x1050?
the d-sub should have no problems with this (you will have to add the resolution with powerstrip),but its not possible on the dvi (if you have a pc flashed v5 mac)..

Did you solve by Powerstrip? You can grab the latest release here: https://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/video/hardware/
Let us know,
Thank you,
Bye bye
If you are using SFFT 1.5 drivers, the most elegant solution would be editing the inf file yourself.
Just add these lines to 3dfxvs2k.inf
QuoteHKR,"TIMINGS\1680,1050\60Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1680,1050\60Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
A reinstall would apply it, upon next boot you should be at 16:10.

Any idea why?
its simply too much for the LCD chip to handle.
Ah right, that was a first generation of digital video output, wasn't it. Those extra 80 pixels wide would make me buy Mac :D
yup,so close,yet so far..
Wrong thread. Delete this post please. Thanks.
Try this dude, works fine on my voodoo 5 5500 agp ... 1680 x 1050 ... =D

How to use this file? because my TV works well on that resolution. Any Idea?
found the same chip on the fx5800 ultra:

i don't have such a card, but maybe somebody who has ist can test if with the ndivia drivers a resolution of 1680x1050 is possible :) ( on DVI of course )
I remember that i have a gf4 Ti4600 in the closed, with the same DVI chipset :)
so that i put both cards together, to see what i mean.
More than that, i install the ti4600 into my computer, and.....
it's displayed at 1650x1080 !!!!

It seems that the drivers are the problem for our voodoo5 cards and not the chip itself !
ok, so after some researches and tests i manage to get this resolution ( 1680x1050 ) to work on D-SUB, and not on DVI.
On DVI i get a blurry/unsharp image dunno why....
For D-SUB, this is what have to be done:
1. edit the file 3dfxvs2k.inf of the driver. This file is located into the driver instalation kit.
2. Add following rows ( where the other resolutions settings are ):
HKR,"TIMINGS\1680,1050\60Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1680,1050\60Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
3.save the file, and reinstall the driver !
4.reboot and enjoy the new resolution.
Here is a screenshoot:

@SFFT: Please add this feature into the next release of the SFFT driver :)
Thanks !
And here is the file, in any case :)
