Title: How does OS choose Voodoo 1 or 2 to process 3D?
Post by: lordnikon on 02 June 2014, 21:14:26
If you are using a 2D/3D card in a Voodoo 1 or Voodoo 2 environment, how does it choose to use the Voodoo 2's 3D capabilities instead of the other card for 3D?

In short:

Glide/OpenGL games: You force 3Dfx acceleration putting proper glide/opengl library in the game directory.

D3D games: If more than one D3D accelerator is present in the system and you are going to play any D3D games, you should be able to select any of the D3D accelerators in the list of a 3D setup launcher (e.g. Fifa99). Otherwise I think you can force the game to choose the 3Dfx adding proper strings to the game shortcut.

Hi,
You can use the utility 3D Control Center (http://www.3dfxzone.it/files?object=3dfx&objid=318). With it, you can switche between different D3D cards for games that can't do it.

Ok great, thanks for the tips guys. Much appreciated. I will be sure to use those methods as I test out a variety of games.
