Title: Test programs
Post by: BaldiGit on 13 May 2021, 12:18:46
I'm trying to test a couple of Voodoo cards, a Banshee, voodoo 1 and a voodoo 2. What's the easiest program to run to test if they're working? I've tried the shareware Quake with QuakeGL with no luck. What uses Glide?

Hi BaldiGit,

you can use the official 3dfx technology demos that are on line at following URL:

https://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/techdemos/index.php

A lot of these apps use Glide APIs: among these, you can try "Donut" (for example).

Bye bye

Sadly I think both cards are dead :(. I cant get any life out of them apart from one of them gave me a black and purple checkerboard screen. But thank you for the reply;).

Hi BaldiGit,

damn :(

However, if you'll get your hands on another 3dfx card and will need support (or will like simply share your experience)... you'll be welcome again.

Bye bye

Well, the checker board defenatly does not mean that your card is defected.
The problem is that your card wont work with that setup.
The voodoo 1 card is meant for processors like p166, mmx266 and maybe even a K6-2 550mhz. Don't go any faster than that.
Also use MS-DOS or no newer then Windows 98/ME.
