Voodoo4/5 Discussions / Voodoo5 6000 Value
01 March 2013, 20:11:35
Hi,

I have a Voodoo5 6000 that is currently not fully functional due to bad ram in one of the banks.  It runs in 2D mode at the desktop, but hangs if a 3D application is launched.  I am assured that this ram can be replaced with the proper equipment and expertise, which I do not have.

I purchased it many years ago and had it repaired/modified by Hank Semenec.  I used this card for years without problems, but then suddenly could not play games anymore.  I do have a few Voodoo5 6000 compatible motherboards that would also be included with the sale.

As such, I am considering selling the card, and wonder if anyone can suggest what it may be worth in the current condition.

Does anyone have mirrors or captures of these pages?  I may be able to host them.

Thanks

Greetings,

Is there any utility that can test the Voodoo5 ram and potentially help narrow down failed HYUNDAI HY57V653220B chips?  If no other option is available, I may send this card to have the ram replaced, although I only have a few replacements.

Thanks

Greetings,.

Is there anyone capable of testing and possibly repairing a Voodoo5 6000?

The computer that mine was installed in became unstable due to swollen capacitors, so I sent it off to be re-capped.  The 6000 worked the last time I tested it.

The computer works since the repairs, but the 6000 is not functioning properly.  It boots and works fine in 2D, but any time I run a 3D application it either hangs with a corrupted screen or also with short blue vertical lines.  I don't have any other system compatible with this card, so I can't tell if the problem is the card or my computer, or if anything can possibly be done about it.

This system will not boot with either of my Voodoo5 5500 cards.

Thanks for your consideration

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a direct replacement for the fans on a Voodoo5?  I would like to avoid replacing the connectors or pulling the existing heat sinks.

Thanks

Greetings,

I am trying to decide what to put in my 3Dfx game system, and wonder if there are any Glide games that will not run on either a Voodoo1 or Voodoo5 5500.  I also have a Voodoo II SLI set available, but am not sure this is needed with the Voodoo5.

Thanks!

Hi,

I am struggling to get Carmageddon working on my Voodoo2 card.  It has been a very long time since I did this, and I seem to be missing something.  I've tried several versions of the Glide drivers and followed the upgrade instructions for Carmageddon and Voodoo2, but it just won't work.  Mostly the program window runs Voodo2C.exe and says "finished" without doing anything.  Trying to run in DOS or Windows98 DOS mode just hangs with a black screen.

If anyone has this working, I would appreciate any tips, such as what version of the drivers that you are using, and steps that I may have forgotten.

Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to use a 3Dfx Voodoo1 card in a 750mhz Pentium system running DOS 6.22 or Windows98, and have tried both an ISA Sound Blaster Pro 2 and PCI Hoontech SoundTrack Digital XG sound card.  Whenever a Voodoo game is running, the sound cuts in and out several times a second and is garbled and distorted.

I have tried both enabling a PCI "delayed transaction" option in the BIOS, and also adding SST_FASTPCIRD=0 in autoexec.bat with no effect.

Can anyone suggest what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks

Greetings,

The motherboard under my Voodoo5 6000 has failed.  I am wondering if anyone can recommend a replacement since not all of those that are Voodoo5 5500 compatible seem to work with the 6000.

Thanks!

Greetings,

Is there something special that must be done in order to play Grand Prix Legends on the Voodoo5 6000?

I'm using Windows98 and Amigamerlin 2.9

Thanks!

What motherboard is under your Voodoo5 6000?

I'm hoping for one that supports AMD and 333mhz FSB/Ram, and want to hear from 6000 owners.

Thanks!

Greetings,

I purchased an Asus A7S333 motherboard to replace my failing Leadtek Winfast 7350KDA, for use with my Voodoo5 6000.  I read on this board that it would be compatible with the Voodoo5 series.

I installed the board, and found that it worked fine with the Voodoo5 5500.  When I installed the 6000, nothing.

I tried setting the BIOS to AGP 1X, 2X, and 4X and none produced a POST screen from the 6000.

Can anyone suggest what I'm missing, or how it may be possible that the Voodoo5 5500 works but not the 6000?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
