Hi
I don't get any effect changing the Gamma settings in Glide/Open GL in the 3dfx Color settings in the Preferences for Voodoo5 5500 AGP. It works fine for the desktop and Direct3D.
I'm using Omega 1.03 drivers.
Any ideas why it doesn't work?
Cheers

..had this problem once, reinstalling the drivers fixed it.
No this is caused because Glide games can supply their own gamma, in this case global gamma will be ignored. You can force it to use the global gamma by setting FX_GLIDE_USE_APP_GAMMA to 0 or something in the registry...

I don't have this string in the registry.
What can I do?

What games ?
or Do you have always the problem ?
have you tried reinstalling the drivers as I have suggested?
Add the registry string where all the other FX_GLIDE variables reside, of course, and then set it to 0
I've uninstalled 3dfx Tools and my current drivers and now can't I install 3dfx tools . When I run the 3dfx Tools installation program a Microsoft Installer window appears and after that disapears without installing the tools.
I found a method to rename C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield which I tried but it didn't help.
I still can't install 3dfx Tools. I've tried Omega driver 1.03 and Amiga Merlin 2.9
I've posted this problem as a separate topic.
What can I do?
Well, how did you remove the 3dfx tools and the drivers ?
I've solved the installer problem. The installer had apparently been damaged in some way. I installed Windows Installer 2.0 following this instruction:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823212
The 3dfx Tools installation worked OK now. :D
I installed Amiga Merlin 2.9 but that didn't solve the Glide Gamma problem.
I tested Red Baron 3D and European Air War. The problem is always the same.
I'll test to add the registry string this evening.
I added the registry string as suggested above,
FX_GLIDE_USE_APP_GAMMA to 0 but it didn't have any effect.
Any other suggestions, please?

Correction:
I started an Open GL game and noticed that the Gamma setting worked there, but it doesn't work in Glide.
There's only one setting for Glide/OpenGL
Any ideas what I can do/try?

I would say uninstall 3dfx tools, switch to the standard vga driver, wipe out anything 3dfx related out of your registry, install the 3dfx driver again, and it must work.if not, well, full win reinstall is upon you..
Back up your registry before ;)
Soon I will upload to my site (www.glide.land.ru) the program Glide Master. The program allows to change gamma-correction from a keyboard.
