Archangel has been my call sign since the Wing Commander 1 days. I like your choice of avatar, fits well with the name.

Has anyone had any luck getting the Mechwarrior 2 Titanium series to run on XP? I have the same problem as Independence War (see the post in this same forum) with the games not intializing. Is this because I have too much memory in the system as well? Or is there problem at its root cause?  (Hopefully with a work around?)

Thanks...

Love those ol' Glide games... now if we can only get them all to work on XP...

I've tried various compatable modes and adjustments to the Voodoo settings with no success. However I have two 512 meg. strips of memory installed. Is there a work around short of neutering my system?

Has anyone had any luck getting Independence War Deluxe to run under XP. I've tried both software and Voodoo 1 & 2 modes with the same results: the game begins to intializes crashes and leaves me back at the desktop.

I'm running an AMD Althon 2400+, with a MSI Nvidia 6600GT-128 and two Canopus Pure Voodoo 2's in SLI with the latest FastVoodoo 4.0 Gold drivers under XP. Sound card is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

Thanks...

I recently found glide files posted on another site that fixed a lot of problems I was having running the FastVoodoo2 XP v.4.0 Gold driver for my Voodoo 2 cards.

There are actually two glide files, one for those running ATI cards as their primary card, and another for those running Nvidia card as their primary.

After installing the file games that glitched ran smoothly. For instance, Wing Commander Prophecy always ran with graphic artifacts in the radar screen area; these are now gone and I can even run the game in high resolution mode (third party tweak).

I'm sure others would be interested in these files and they could be posted in the FastVoodoo2 XP Gold download page. For now I will give the link to the sites where I found them and I will leave it to the powers that be of this forum to decide if they are worthy of inclusion:

This first link contains driver and card info. and links:
http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm

This second link contains the glide file downloads:
http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm

Note: The first link will lead you to other drivers for XP and 98 along with glide patches for these as well.

Happy Gaming,

I've just installed (as per instructions) the FastVoodoo2 4.0 Gold XP Drivers for my two Canopus Pure Voodoo2 Cards.
The device manager in windows says both cards are there and working fine.
Only problem is that the control panal in the display properties tells me that the SLI mode is "not detected"

I've removed and reinstalled the drivers only to have the same error.

The demos run just fine, save 1024 x 768 res. is missing and won't run (which seems to confirm that only one card is being used.)

My system consists of AMD Athlon 2400+ CPU, 512 meg memory, and a MSI 5200FX primary card.

These two Voodoo's were working just fine in the same system with Windows ME. (And yes, I removed the cards first, before installing the new OS over a clean HD, and installed the primary card with its drivers first.)

Any suggestions to get SLI mode up and running??? (I'm checking cables again to make sure one didn't get lossened up upon reinstallation.)

Thanks....
