Games / Sacred, V5 5500 AGP, Win98

I have problem with Sacred (and Sacred Plus), installed on Windows 98 machine with Voodoo 5 5500 AGP with Raziel 64 driver.
Does anybody know if Sacred work with V5 (and other 3dfx cards)? I know it requires DX9 videocard, but many other games works with 3dfx cards. BTW, I tried to look in Google and other search engines and I found many hints about other games and V5, but I was unable to find anything about Sacred and Voodoo cards... Strange...
The game starts, work good for a few minutes and then just exit to the desktop (without an error).
With x3dfx driver (1.07 I think) the game works in simular way - for a limited time, sometimes for 30 minutes, sometimes for 2-3 min., or it crashes at load, but if I try to zoom in/out - it crashes very often (sometimes immediately, sometimes not at all). This time I receive an error - General exception.

So, is it possible to play Sacred with Voodoo 5? Any hints?

Well, I was unable to start Gothic with Mikepedo drivers - it return black screen with "Can't create directx #... object". With x3dfx driver 1.07 (if I remember the version) - from www.voodoofiles.com I can start Gothic without a problem. But it sometimes crashes - if I try to kill a bloodfly or minecrawler, especially if they are more than 1 and I've been hit. Perhaps this is a common problem, because I tried to play with GeForce 5200/5500/5700, Radeon 7000/9000/9600 with simular results. At least, I found that in 640x480 and in Windows 9x/Me the game is more stable, than in XP. With GeForce cards it's more stable also with 32 bit color, with 16 I saw strange items in the inventory!
I read carefully what is written in the forum about x3dfxgamers.de, perhaps it's true. Anyway, with Voodoolizer I have better result in 3D Mark 99,2000,2001, Final Reality... And Raziel 0.9 driver caused too much flickering (as I saw in 3D Analyzer - 3dfx flickering) - as example - Moorhunter XS, XXL, AirXonix 3D. Diablo 2 crashes often, Generals (I found solution in some german site - perhaps www.falconly.de how to start it) also crashes very very often. The same result I had with rampage driver - from www.voodoofiles.com.
I used Mikepedo for 1 year and it workt fine. Right now I am using Voodoolizer 1.06 with Win Me and it's still works perfectly... Maybe these "pirates" changed some files and yet... What driver they stole?

I think it's about time for improving Geometry assist - to be DX8 or DX9 compatible and not so buggy. Some games work very good with this option enabled - they think I have H T&L card. But other don't want to start at all.
This is the main pain of Voodoo cards - lack of Hardware T&L. 3D Analyzer can help sometimes...
What do you think?

Hi everyone,

At last I found newer Voodoolizer (and VoodooXtreme) drivers for Voodoo's. About 1 year ago my favorite drv was Voodoolizer 1.05 - from www.voodoofiles.com (actually from www.x3dfxgamers.de and www.voodooland.org, as I see now).
Amigamerlin drivers don't work very well for me - I have Win ME, Win XP, Barton 2500+, V5 5500 AGP.
Right now I am using Mikepedo driver (beta DX8), it works quite well with many games, even better than x3dfx drivers, but it can't start Gothic - too bad...
I think you guys must have better connection with other 3dfx related sites. It's too sad, especially with the whole situation with 3dfx and Nvidia...
Does anyone have experience with the these drivers? Please, write which drivers works best for you and for what hardware/software!

NuDriver 5 (9x/ME), NuDriver 7 - XP
If you know any NuDriver, working with V3 - tell me.
I installed it with V3, but after restart, Windows roll back to the previous driver /the file names are different for V3 and V4/5 - voodoo series/. But you should know already this.
About 4-5 months ago, I asked about software HT&L /or better Geometry Assist with DX8/9 support/. Right now, I assume 3Dfx are dead and their great videocard too, because no one in the world can write truly good driver... Amazing! I just can't believe this, but why nobody is working? Someone pay for not doing it??
I know it's possible and not so hard. Perhaps some of the 3Dfx engineers can do it, but they just don't want to work for the people?

Well, I found NuDriver in www.voodoofiles.com, also in falconly.de, but I am sure it is working only with V4/V5.
You can try the newest driver - rampage for V3 /also in voodoofiles.com/, I started once Sacred with it.

I have 1.5 only. But the problem is video card related - with GeForce FX 5200 the game runs without crashes.
I downloaded 1.6, but it still don't have no-cd patch :)

Hello,

I am able to run Sacred with my V5 5500, but if I am trying to zoom in/out the game /with the mouse wheel/ the game crashes rarely. Also, it crashes sometimes without any clear reason. I am using NU Driver 5 (DX 8 beta compatible), Windows ME, I tried also Rampage drivers (the latest from www.voodoofiles.com), but they sux, also I tried x-3dfx 1.07 drivers. NU Driver is the best, the game runs fast and smoothly, but it's not very playable, because of the crashes.
I sent an e-mail to the Sacred team, without an answer.
If someone have better luck, please post the experience here :)

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / The end of Voodoo 3/4/5?

I am unable to start any game with 3D Analyze. I started only Tien /it runs without 3D Analyze too, but the screen is flickering/. BTW, I want to see Geometry assist working without crashes.
Anyone in this world can code it??
I agree that part of 3D Analyze can be included in the driver. But only if improved.
What about pixel and vertex shader?

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / The end of Voodoo 3/4/5?

Hello,

I am mad Voodoo's lover, but it seems 3dfx products finally are going to the death... Damn, why nobody works at this unfinished Geometry Assist option? As the original help reads, it is still incomplete and buggy. I succeed to test my V5 5500 /also V4 4500 & V3 3000/ with Geometry Assist on with 3D Mark 99, 2000, but not with 2001. V5 (also other voodoos) are far away then any GeForce 256, 2 (ever TI)...
But I was unable to play any game with this option turned on. Comanche 4 found Voodoo with GA on like H T&L card, but crashes at loading level time.
Can anyone answer - is there any game, working with GA on?
I am sure, if someone can finish this code in the driver - Voodoos never will die!
Also, what about pixel and shader processing (even software)? I am sure it's possible - look at 3D Analyze... Is there anybody working on it?

Waiting for your comments!

www.mesa3d.org - January 16, 2004
Mesa 6.0 has been released. This is a stabilization of the 5.1 release and primarily just incorporates bug fixes.
New: - full OpenGL 1.5 support
------------------------------------------------

Opengl32.dll from Mesa 3.0 and 3.1 is about 1.1 Mb and it doesn't need his own Glide (works with Glide 3.x from the drivers)? This Mesa 5.1 is just about 490 Kb? Why??
I found in the Internet these precompiled Mesa binaries:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/glscene/Mesa3D-4.0.2-Win32.zip (1.1 Mb) - software only (too bad...)
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/glscene/Mesa3D-4.0.4-Win32.zip (497 Kb) - software only
Also I found some Mesa 3.x binaries - 1.1 Mb compiled with 3Dfx support.

Hints By Advanced Users / Mesa 4.x download?

I tried two versions of drivers - the original 3dfx and Fast Voodoo 2 gold from this site - Quake 3 can't start - it just beep and quit without any error message. With Mesa 3.1 (old copy) I am able to start it. I just want more performance. Yesterday I received a message from Glide (in italian messageboard) about minor error in driver. I am just curious where exactly - in compiled Mesa 5.1 or in FastV2 gold? By the way, it can't work with the original drivers...
In the Readme I read Mesa 5.1 is compiled for Voodoo Banshee, Voodoo 3/4/5, I don't see any word about Voodoo Graphics/Voodoo 2. Is it an accident?
So, if someone knows where I can find Mesa 4.x compiled with 3Dfx supoort, please, tell me.
Also, I am interested about D3D with V2 and Win 2k/XP. Any project?

Hi,

I need Mesa 4.x or Mesa 5.x compiled for both voodoo cards (Mesa 5.1 in this site is compiled without V2 support). Please, send an email with link to s_georgiev@abv.bg
