Post by: secretfj on 12 August 2004, 11:14:14
Candidates :
1. Diamond 3D monster2 (Voodoo 2) 12MB X2 SLI
2. Intel Desktop Board D845GLAD (845GL Onboard)

Shared Components:
Pentium 4 M 1.7GHz @ 1.8GHz (150FSB X 12) <--Using Celeron D Heatsink
Intel Desktop Board D845GLAD
256MB PQI PC2100 DDRRAM @ 150MHz DDR
Seagate ST320014A

Drivers:
V2 uses Fastvoodoo 4.6
845GL uses Intel Driver 4.14.10.3732

Test:
3D Mark 2001SE build 330

The results are as follows: (IEG behaves better than V2)

Something to say:
1. The original Celeron D HSF (the one with copper core) behaves very differently than the original celeron 4 HSF (my sister's C1.7). It's very NOISY....as noisy as a hair dryer
2. The preformance of IEG is quite affected by the CPU (most likely the cache). i used to use the board with a celeron 1.7, it's 3D mark result is awful (just above 1000 marks), now with a P4M, it doubled..
3. I will do the OpenGL test later, stay tuned!

I've edited my original topic..to make it more readable

QuoteV2 gives 8xx marks

Ain't that low for a V2 SLI + P4 ??
My V3 + P3@800 does about 13xx

i dunno...
i think it's quite low too..
first i think it maybe due to limited PCI bandwidth, so i overclock and make the freq of PCI bus higher, it does perform better (from 7xx to 988), but still quite low..

i can get a thousand mark with a Celeron 1.08G and a overclocked TNT2 M64 (but all are thrown away by me now...)
maybe the next step is to get some heatsink and fans for Chips/memory, then try to overclock those V2s...

oh sorry, forgotten to say, all the tests are done in Windows 98 (non-SE) English version, using DirectX 9.0B
