Try uninstalling all your video card drivers, until your card is set as as Standard VGA controller or whatever, and make sure that you get them all out. Then install AmigaSport 3.0, and let us know what happens. AmigaMerlin 3.0 is not for voodoo 3 cards, only for voodoo 4 and 5, so it will mess things up for you.

Hi, I think voodoo 2 and NFSU are working in my system, using the game 3d setup and selecting glide device the game works fine 800X600 pixels. I use windows XP and voodoo 2 drivers from 3dfxzone.

my sytem:

athlon xp 2600+
256 mb pc2700
Geforce 4 mx440 (worst card ever)
voodoo2

Post by: Nightbird on 29 February 2004, 17:36:19
Need For Speed Underground doesn't support the Glide  ;)
What NFS are you playing ?
Title: Need for speed Underground
Post by: amp_man on 29 February 2004, 21:31:49
I think that it's running on your GF4, not the V2. As nightbird already stated, this game has no glide support, nor opengl, just direct3d.

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I´m from Argentina.
Well, I have a PIII 800EB MHz, with 512Mb Ram, and ....(and here comes the star) a voodoo 4500 agp 32Mb. All this running over a Epox mother board 3spa3L. Al this is been controlled by WinXP SP2.

Any time I try to run Need for Speed Underground it happended to do :

A). Although I`ve tried from the originally drivers to the
Amigarling 3.1SR I ONLY GET THE ALL SYSTEM RESTARTED.
Only with SSFA beta release I could see and error label.
It seems to be something wrong with the "3dfxvs.dll" file.
I also tried 3DAnalyze with no results.

B). Only with the drivers got on microsoft I could see this:

Its a driver problem, I have looked at this but havn't managed to fix this under XP although strangely enough it seems to work better under W2K with intermittent reboots rather than everytime, this is with a test driver though.

Need for Speed Underground should work under XP with the next SFFT alpha release. It seems to work in DX7 Mode with the current driver the SFFT Alpha 19.

i can´t get it to work...

* in dx8 mode, i get "blue screen" (with a 3dfxvs.dll error) after the loading logo screen
* in dx7 mode, it doesn't start/launch at all (the desktop/windows explorer stays...)

winXPsp2, nfsuDEMO, v4500, alpha19

I have seen it fail to start occasionaly but it usually starts a second time. I have fixed the BSOD under DX8 mode in the next driver. At least that is was happens on my XP test machine with the Alpha 19, it usually runs fine under W2k.

Try running the game again, I find that it loads under XP the second time if it fails the first.

@ Divvy
I tried NFSU today with the Alpha23 drivers on my Voodoo4, it runs great.
I guess your drivers are not installed correctly.
What do you see when you look into your display properties ?
Does it say 3dfx Voodoo5 or 3dfx Voodoo Series ?
When it says Voodoo5 then the SFFT drivers are NOT active.
I had this problem once and then I changed my way of installing the drivers, now it works.
Here is what I did ( Screens are from german WinXP, I dont know the exact english terms, but you should recognize the screens, just follow the red boxes... )
First, I unzip the SFFT package to a directory ( i.e. C:\temp\3dfx )

In device manager, I open properties of my graphic card :

Image Insert:
31.82 KB

Image Insert:
36.33 KB

Image Insert:
41.15 KB

Image Insert:
38.04 KB

Now I choose the directory that I created before ( C:\temp\3dfx ).
You can ignore the compatibility issue that is popping up.
Now restart and you are good to go...
Hope this helps...

Hi Rolo01,
Thanks for your answer.
I check the proporties and it shows: "3dfx Voodoo Series", so install is fine.
But I have installed alpha22 and not 23.. where can I found and download alpha23?

Tks
