I am looking to get the fastest ATI card that still supports win98se.

I currently have the 9800Pro, ATI 7000, Rage 128 MAXX (missing a 8xxx series)

Anyone run into a bug with having Win98SE , Voodoo2 12Mb SLI and greater than 512Mb or ram?

I getting my final retro gaming PC setup and together I am dual booting both XP and 98SE.

when i try to run with more than 512Mb of DDR1 the control panel won't open for the Voodoo2's and no Glidegame will run.

this does it for all 4 sticks of memory i have.

If i have only a single voodoo2 it works great with 1Gb of DDR
if i have only 512mb of DDR1 it works great with dual voodoo2's

has anyone seen this behaviour before?   the only reason i was hoping to have 1 Gb of DDR in the system is for the windows xp gaming.

i have a feeling it has to do with memory addressing with win98se and the 3dfx drivers  (the 3dfx drivers will only access memory upto a certain amount, keep in mind that the PCI device is added into the memory pool ontop of the system ram)

Is it possible to have both the Voodoo1 and Voodoo2 in the same system?

i have a voodoo2 sli setup but was wondering if i could also throw in my voodoo1 and run both the v2 and v1 at the same time.

is it possible to choose which one to use for glide games etc??

i'm not sure if th is ever came up in the past because who in their right mind would want to run a v1 along side a v2.

I am having an issue getting my v5 5500 pci working on a dell GX260..  the symptoms are a corrupt bios screen , then a clean boot into windows xp and then it freezes. It is an Intel board with the PCI slot coming off a riser expansion.

the V5 5500 works great in my AMD 3400+ setup that has ended up being a FX5900ultra + V2 SLI Setup.  I wanted to get this GX260 going so as my compact retro gaming PC.

i have a feeling it is a bios problem , what is considered the most stable bios for the v5 5500 pci?

i read about a "trigger" validated bios and going to try that tonight. Is that considered the best/most stable bios available?

I finally got my retro Rig setup how i want it but i feel i might have made a bit of a mistake in that i am having a hard time getting some old DOS glide games working with my Voodoo5 5500 PCI..

when i run DOS games (eg Tombraider1) i get a SLI looking screen corruption in that every other line is an odd color.. but no actual picture of any sorts or sound.. Tombraider will run with the nonGlide exe..

I don't even get the usual Glide 3dfx splash screen when glide is initialized..

This is for both the Tombraider glide and the MDK GLIDE

i was hoping someone had a link to a guide on how to get these older DOS games working (these 2 are the only ones i am worried about right now) with the voodoo5. These 2 games will work fine on my Voodoo2 SLI rig but i was hoping to just have 1 central Retro Rig..  

the other option might be just to put my Orchid Voodoo1 in the machine but then that'd kindof force me into a VGA setup (and i kindof like the DVI out on the Voodoo5) and i don't really want to deal with any conflicts between it and the V5


other than that i've finally got my entire game library installed on the machine (80+ games) and just going through and trying to find all the patches i can for those older games.
