Title: my voodoo2 64-bit driver (join the testing)
Post by: ms-dos on 13 October 2010, 17:37:51
I finely got a voodoo2 64-bit driver running
I have tested it in winxp-64 bit with my Creative labs voodoo2
and I have Deus Ex run 100% fine
here is the driver (in beta testing phase)
http://www.2shared.com/file/Feg_g5Vr/voodoo2_driver_winxp-64-bit_ba.html
I will need help testing the driver all different cards ans systems and games

This driver was based on Koolsmoky voodoo2 driver and 3dfx Glide64-bit driver

I give www.3dfxzone.it permission to upload the driver on the site

Same post on other sites

ah,now that's something interesting..I would like to say I'll have a look at the driver, but my time has been really really short in the last few months.

I'll try to test it within this week, but no promises.

So far all games I have tested are running grate but a little slow (hardly noticeable for some games)
but this may be because I using a 8mb voodoo2
Deus Ex and airfix dogfighter were running the slowest
It has been sum time since I last use my voodoo 2, and I can not remember how slow/fast these games were (I'm spoiled with my voodoo5500)If any one know how well these games run on a 8mb voodoo2 let me know
I will find sum of my old game tomorrow and continued testing  those games
If you have a request for a game to test let me know

I just had a great idea
some how get that DirectX Driver and this 64-bit driver working together but that's probably not possible

Actually, 8mb V2 is not much slower than 12mb V2 most of the time. The smart guys back then bought the 8mb cards and saved a lot of money.

Well not entirely true ;)
The 12MB boards did have an advantage when lot of textures played a role games like Descent 3 1.5 Bea or Freespace 1, 2, Falcon 4.0 or Wing Commander Prohecy; This is where a 2x v2 12MB in SLI setup was strongly preferred over the 2x 8MB in SLI solution, I have a Quntum3D Obsidian X-24 and it destroys all 2x 8MB Configs and can easily come alone with 2x 12MB in SLI config, even it only uses one PCI 2.0 slot ;)

It's just those extra frames you get extra to maintain a fluid gameplay framerate [8D]

If you are interested to this topic, please refers to this most updated thread (https://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31260) that includes also a working link to download a Voodoo2 driver for Windows 64-bit.

Many thanks for contribution.

Bye bye
