See, both are 40x40mm, but one is a heatsink, while the other is a heatsink/fan combo. However, the SLC-S41-U1 doesn't have mounting screw, so we have to use either thermal adhesive or frag tape. The Zalman, on the other hand, can be mounted using a screw.
Now I ain't gonna' use thermal adhesive because I'm pretty much squeamish in sticking anything permanent on my V5, so I guess I'll stick with frag tape (pardon the pun). However, IIRC frag tape is less efficient in transferring the heat to the heatsink. Is that true?
Which one is better? Anyone experienced in using either solution, or both? Which one you would reccommend?

Both of them will cool down v5. The one with fan will do it much better, because those thermal interfaces doesn't change the situation that much (usually +/-5C).

Isn't +/-5C is quite much?
By the way, how about Cooler Master SLC-S41 compared to Tennmax Voodoo5 Cooling Fan? The Tennmax has mounting appendages, but its heatsink is not as big as the Cooler Master.
Active cooling is far better that passive in terms of cooling.
Bigger heatsing and fan - better cooling (if we are not nitpicking about rpm's and cfm's)

Actually, there are no TennMax Voodoo5 fan, at least i haven't seen any. I guess you're talking about TennMax Stealth V3 Coolers.
And yes, in terms of cooling that Cooler Master SLC-S41-U1 sould be better. But the downside of this Cooler Master is that it's big, for a videocard i mean. It will block 1-2 PCI slots and not everyone has many pci slots.. Both of those coolers will cool down v5, i mean, if you're not a hard core overclocker, there's no difference if you run card or 25C or 35C. Also, there's one more thing to compare: price ;)

I don't mind the size, though. I don't plan to stick too many PCI devices. See, it's a legacy system, with Epox 8KTA3 Mobo (thanks, Nightbird!) and Sound Blaster AWE32 ISA.

Copper is nice :D fan may need attention though.
