To play Quake-Games it's the best to install WickedGL. Im combination with the Amigamerlin 2.9 or Raziel Evolution drivers you shouldn't get big trouble. :D

Greetings from Germany,
Raff

I would recommend the original 3dfx driver v1.07.00 (http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo3.htm) and wickedgl (http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm#wickedgl).that should give you the best speed with q2 and q3..

In order that "some" things are definitively clear, WickedGL is not abandonware.
So thanks to use this forum for legal files.

The 3.02 that you will find here (https://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/wickedgl/index.htm) is perhaps and only a demo but it works very well and like the other 3.02 that you needeed to buy to get the key...

as for wickedgl, you cant buy it anymore,so I personally consider it abandonware (same goes for some very old games I have,I would gladly pay hard money for original disks, but no one sells them these days,so dloading is the only option, unfortunately).I'm pretty sure metabyte wont mind, they have better things to do than bothering with a five year old app that is used only by few hardcore 3dfx users.but I will not link the full version in the future if that is your wish..

Metabyte is always in business and it's the owner of the name and software specially these versions which people needeed to buy in order to get the key.
Does this version that you host freely and generously for people belong to you ?
Note also that this site only hosts free versions.
Any lawyer would be perhaps able to put this site in worries and nobody wishes that ?
Anybody is free but the best is perhaps that you find a solution like you can host or a little note saying in private you can... [:p]
Sometimes when you link to other sites, you need to be "careful". ;)

I agree with ps47, original 3dfx 1.07.00 and wickedgl when needed.

Maybe if they (Metabyte)were contacted by one of us, they might agree to release it as freeware, they have not offered it as a purchasable product for year's now.

I legaly purchased Wickedgl many years ago and still have a copy of the email they sent me with the serial #, but I think it (serial #) was tied to that version because I can't unlock any demo version I've tried (I lost the floppy's I saved it on).

I enjoy researching, acquiring and playing older games as I typically find them to have better gameplay and originality than 95% of the Sh*t games released in the last 4 -5 years, so I agree with ps47 that if I cant find them in retail or ebay my only alternative is to get them from abandonware sites.

Some of these fantastic older games would be most likely lost forever to the general public if it were not for some of these abandonware sites [8D]

Just my opinion ;)

No problemo, your opinion is welcome :)
Well, i contacted Metabyte "some" years ago now and never i got an answer...
I like - me too - the old games and indeed an abandonware site can be a great resource.
But if at home, you do what you want ; as said, on a public site, you need to be more "careful".
Remember, some rules are here (or elsewhere) for "something" and not only for the pleasure to be written.  ;)

true.go for 3dfx 1.07.00 or Amigamerlin 2.9,your choice.both are good.Amigamerlin 2.9 is meant for faster systems than yours though.I have q3 running on a celeron600/voodoo3 with the latest original 3dfx driver and wickedgl, runs smooth as butter, and looks great (wickedgl is the real thing for quake3,it improves the visuals quite a bit)..
