Title: Voodoo2 Monster II PCI 12mb Not Recognized
Post by: hkseo100 on 24 May 2006, 04:11:25
Hey guys, I have a Monster II PCI 12mb by Diamond Multimedia, and the weird thing is, when I run with my 7800gtx it is fine, but If i take out the 7800gtx (of course bios changed to PCI graphics recognized first instead of PCI-E) and put the Voodoo2 in, i can't see anything, and If I put the 7800gtx back in and then put the Voodoo2 in, Windows XP Starts up (on 7800gtx) and recognized the card! I tried this on 2 other systems, the card is recognized in "Sound, Video, Game Controllers" in Device Manager, not in "Display Adapters" like my 7800gtx, what is wrong? Does Anyone know? Thanks

Voodoo2 is only a 3d Acelerated Graphics Card. It only uses 3D and requires a 2D Graphics Card (your 7800gtx) to work. This Graphic Card appear normally in section "Sound, Video, Game Controllers", not in "Display Adapters", so your card appear to work correctly.

For OpenGL aceleration, you can try FastVoodoo2 Gold Edition
For OpenGL and Direct3D aceleration, you can try LegendGrafix VoodooMage 2 (this is a beta version driver, so sometimes your PC can be unstable, but works in a lot of games)

Thank you! So, If my friend has a Rage IIC 4mb AGP, he can use the Voodoo 2 Card? Do I need a special cable like a Pass-Through w/e cable to connect to the RAGE IIC Graphics Card? After I install the drivers, do I do anything on game settings? Like Counter-Strike it won't let you choose Video Cards, do i leave it alone? Thank you, I was trying to get this work, lol, and do I connect the VGA to the Voodoo 2 or the Rage IIC? THanks!

So, the Voodoo2 is not a stand-alone card right? IT is like an expansion of a 2d Card? (Any 2d?? like the Rage IIC) How do I use it? Do I hook the VGA to the Voodoo2 or Rage IIC, do I have to switch cables everytime for when using Voodoo 2? Thanks.

see here (http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm#SLI).voodoo2 is a standalone 3D-only accelerator card, and it will work only in 3dgames.when such a game is launched, your primary vga will be deactivated and the voodoo2 will start to operate.itas like having two different cards in your pc,one handles 2d,the second one (voodoo2) 3d..

I just tried Opposing Force and i'm in Developer mode, and it initializes with my 7800gtx, it doesn't say Voodoo 2... lol how do i even setup? I just put the voodoo2 card in, and got a monitor extension cord, did the "Pass-Through" thing, and it comes up, and still detected by windows, but If I load up the game, it initializes with 7800gtx

On the main menu go to Options->Video and select OpenGL, then - "minigl" (or something like that) instead of "default" in the combo box.

dont forget you will have to instal a working voodoo2 driver (you are using xp I assume),the card is useless without a driver..go here (http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm#SLIdrivers) to see the recommended drivers.
