Anyway a few months later I gave it a go.

The problem is, those resolutions dont exists in the driver.
Game reads them from the system so they show up, but ofc when you go through opengl->glide, driver doesnt really know what the **** you want from it.

My "educated guess" was that the problem is not on the openGl icd/minigl side, since it behaved the same with different ones and atleast one of them (my money was on mesafx) would get it right, but on glides side, since it gets converted anyway.

Few days ago a took a shot at one of koolsmokys glide sources and got it to work(ish) using existing resolution placeholders and adding some more.

Its still far off and Im kinda lost in it, wont say I know what Im doing and theres some weird things happening or I missed something :D, but there it is
When Im done, Ill post the changes here or send to Sfft if he is still up to making an update to the driver.

Hello Dolenc and welcome.;)
The results you have achieved are truly remarkable. Congratulations!

I hope that, once you have found the solution, you will also write the results here, as well as send them to SFFT.

Thanks again for your efforts. :)

Thanks for suggestion.

I tried disabling Vsync (using 3dfx tools overclock menu- https://www.philscomputerlab.com/tools-for-voodoo-cards.html )

Unfortunately, no change with the DVI issue.

I have some short clips of issues:
Color Artifacts at 1024x768:
https://youtu.be/0sFW07fYtdM

Mouse flickering at resolution of 1152x864 or 1280x1024 (system often locks up requiring hard reboot).
https://youtu.be/9Lr3IJ8gJUk

By the way tried 16-bit, 256 colors - no difference.

Tried disabling the optimal refresh rate option 3dfx control panel utility- no change.

I watched the videos, this rebus intrigues me....;)
You should do a clean install of the driver that gave you the least trouble, then install V-Control 1.82b:
https://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/news/3dfx/files/v.control_1.82_beta/
From v-control, try again to disable v-sync, and other options that may drain the work of the vsa-100 chip.

Afterwards, you might want to check the operating temperature of the video card, especially the vsa-100, while artifacts are being produced, this could also be related to the errors you see, artifacts and flickering.
Check the back and front of the pcb.

If you have the possibility, since the video card allows it, run tests on a motherboard with pci-x, so you can use the 66 mhz bandwidth.

What I'm going to say sounds stupid, but this could also cause problems: check if the power cables of the pc and monitor have ground connected and working, also in the power socket/multi-plug.

Let me know how it went.:)

Thank you for the advice.
For the voodoo 4500 PCI, I only know of two main bioses for PC that support DVI:
- Version 1.18 which says "Voodoo4 4500 LCD" for bios string
- The custom version 1.18 that was modified by Rainbow (with the built-in editor).

What bios did you use?
V 1.15 does not seem to have DVI.

Hello Gravitonic and welcome.
Joining the advice of Glide, whom I warmly greet, I add a question: Have you tried to run the same tests by disabling V-Sync?
The problem should disappear for good.;)

Hi ComputerBooter and welcome to 3dfxzone.it.
I believe your q3d card is not very common, but we will try to help you out anyway to solve your problem.
Your q3d, not having a VGA pass through, needs a dedicated monitor, a monitor for the main video card and a monitor for the q3d video card connected at the same time, and this seems to me you did.
From bios you have to select the agp port as the main display, if you are using an agp main video card.
You have to do a thorough cleaning of all files installed by the various drivers and in the registry. For this job you could use the q3d software that you find in the original drivers.
For the rest we go by step after you have checked and executed the things I wrote to you before.

See you.:)

Maybe an idea to post news of that new AGP variant  Ciacara  :)

Hi, replied with PM.

During these years spent together, I silently observed everyone's work and I asked myself this question:
But how do they have this Passion/Tenacity in supporting, providing, always and in any case, every day new content and always being present, at any time.

Guys, you have been doing your job very well for over 20 years, never asking for anything in return.

I know it's of little value, but I want to thank you all and do it publicly!

Thank you for all that you have done, that you continue to do and that you will continue to do, I hope for a long time, supported by your passion.

Thank You ALL!!!

See You.:)

i might have the pictures somewhere on my drive if needed :)

Man, if you can recover the photos of the works and the modified bios, it would be a great contribution from you ...;)

i bet it would run smoothly :)
would be nice to get the 256mb version or even 512mb :)
( remeber the v4 from Komponent moded to 128mb ? )

and with dvi or hdmi....would be awensome !!!!
see ya !

Yes, I remember the Komponent mod, it was legendary as a mod, it exceeded all the expectations of the official 3dfx statements!
I remember that he had made a diagram of the v4 4500 with high resolution photos and modified bios, but nothing is found online, at least I have not found it ...

For the dvi / hdmi output I think there are limitations in the drivers that do not allow to extend the signal to 4 vsa-100 chips, but only with two chips ...

Hi Glide, once again, thank you very much.;)
With your little hands you managed to make it (really) pleasing to the eye and as a reading.

Nice nice nice...:)

Hi Glide,
thank you for the review and for the space you continue to offer for publication.

This time it was particularly difficult to find the right compromise for a good acquisition.
At the resolution of 1600x1200, with the Glide api, problems begin to arise that I was able to solve, in part, by bringing the image refresh to 75Hz.

The result is good but, as always, we aim to get the best in this case too.

Let's see with will go with the next Gameplay.:)

Se you.

amazing work !!!
cant wait to see the card in action :)

Hi m14radu and welcome back,
I'm also curious to see it, I also prepared the soldering iron and the drill for the first mods :D

Seriously, I can't wait to check the real performance and how it behaves with the various platforms and games available.
If could create a set of drivers, or adapt the latest ones available, it would be a big step forward.

See you. :)

Guru3D
:)

Hello Nightbird,
thanks for reporting me ... ;)
I didn't answer you before because the notification email went to the spam folder ... [:p]
However, in the description of guru3d there is an inaccuracy because the video card is not pci-e but pci and the additional power supply is there but it is internal with mollex 4 pins:

Maybe it will be the rush to write a news with little information available ...[:p]

Update 19/02/2021

Hello everybody,
unveiled the nickname :D of Anthony's new creation:

Napalm 6000 S.U.X.

Special
Unified
Xcelerator

Taken from the announcement post:

https://ibb.co/f1fxFTs

Hello everybody,
first images of the new project by developer Anthony:

A new Voodoo 5 6000![:0]

As stated by the developer, the graphics card he created is identical to the 3dfx voodoo5 6000, the same Bios, drivers and performance (for now) are identical to the 3dfx video card.

This board was created with the non-destructive Reverse Engineering technique, thanks to which it was possible to obtain the entire electrical and functional diagram and the components of an original 3dfx without destroying it.
I would also add that the PCI connection and the new redesigned pcb of the video card have been improved!

The original V56K was loaned to him by a very dear friend of mine who lives in Argentina, Alexey Chigirev, known for his passion for the 3Dfx world and beyond.
A warm Thanks goes to Alexey!;)

you will find this News and all the other creations, mods, etc etc created by Anthony.

Thank you so much Anthony!:)
