Well, I have a old computer (Pentium 100, 64Mb, 8Gb@7200Rev. [:p]) and I wanted to know if I can install a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI on it.
OK?:D
Off course you can use a V5 5500 PCI. PCI is PCI, it hasn't changed since it's introduction.
Now, the real question is:
Are you on drugs or so?
Why would you want to use a V5 in such a slow computer?
Fact is, the V5 really NEEDS a strong CPU to show its power.
In a P1-100 Mhz a V5 is wasted. Get a Voodoo1 or a banshee...
It's only for testing the power my old computer, :D :D :D.
The true reason is for putting this Voodoo5 in my new computer and now I will have a secondary card that uses Glide.
OK, thanks to all. ;)
better take a Voodoo 2 for that (or a Banshee yes) you will waste your money and the power of a Voodoo 5. I already tried my V5 PCI on a 150MHz, I don't see a lot of difference. get you a Voodoo 2 for or a Banshee 15$. (or a Voodoo 1 for 10$)
how about buying a new processor for that thing? You can get a P233 MMX CPU for less than $10 easily, and that would greatly increase your performance. Hell, I've got two here that I was given ;) along with a few other old pentiums.
