Title: Voodoo3 2000 performance problem. Help please
Post by: DarkStalker on 31 July 2006, 18:16:53
Hey guys, I'm having some performance problems with my Voodoo 3 2000 PCI on PCCHIPS MB (model 775) with Windows XP.

I just formated my PC and the first thing I did is installed the lastest SFF for the Voodoo Driver.

I got some good performance, but later, after install some common programs, like Windows Update, Video Codecs, Office, Norton Internet Security and things like that, my performance goes down...

I tried to reinstall the driver, but the problem continue...

Can anyone help me?

Ps: Sorry for the english.

get rid of norton, it sucks up too much memory.....  and process time.  how much memory do you have?

I have 384 RAM on a P3 800.

I think that norton isn't the problem, because I did a test before install that and the performance is very low.
I did this test before to have sure that norton isn't the problem....

I'm think if is it possible that an Codec pack reduces the performance of the Voodoo... What u think?

TY for answer me. :D

definately.  codecs are made for more high end stuff, and for compression routines that are done inside the video card instead of the processor.  where are you seeing the biggest performance hit?  mpegs, avi's or wmv's?
