I guess Nascar Thunder 2003

In theory, a V4 4500 can run the game but what's your config ?
Minimum Requirements :
PIII500
128MB RAM
DX8.1 compatible video card w/32 MB RAM

Recommended Requirements :
P3-900
256MB RAM
DX8.1 compatible video card w/32 MB RAM

I ran the demo with a V5 and the Amigamerlin 2.9 under Win98SE but if you want, i can try with a V4...
------------------------
This is the way to proceed when you download a full package (drivers + tools) :

- put the desktop in 16 colors and 640*480
- in the directory where the drivers have been extracted, run the executable file. Click on Setup.exe
- "welcome to the 3dfx tools setup wizard" => select NEXT
- agree the terms of the license  and select NEXT
- "ready to install the program" => INSTALL
the program installs the 3dfx tools control panel and the drivers
- "completing the 3dfx tools setup  wizard" => finish

- select YES, i want to restart my computer now, when prompted

well, i'm not sure about the drivers

the problem is (perhaps) with the "generic television" but without being sure
i'm looking for on this axis

well, i don't have Win2K but this problem of overlay isn't new
i can imagine 2 things :
- the driver doesn't support the overlay
- you need an other version of 3Dfx tools, perhaps older than you use

on this site :
http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo3.htm
Voodoo3 Win2K Drivers

you can perhaps try the 3Dfx drivers versions

all these versions own their self version of 3Dfx tools older than the last version V2.6.1.116

about the "generic television" i need to search...

UPDATE : the "generic television" seems to be a characteristic of the Win2k drivers

"NBAlive 2003 is not running on winXP(black screen...)"

if the problem is with the textures (and a V3, this is "only" 256*256), nothing will be able to make, unluckily
NBALive 2003 might be a no-go for the V3

if you have installed the "Microsoft Windows® 2000 Patch for AGP Applications on AMD Athlon™, AMD Athlon XP, AMD Athlon MP, mobile AMD Athlon 4 and AMD Duron™ Processors" with your card, this is not the good driver because you're using XP

well, if i remember a K7M, this also a AMD 751 with a Southbrigde VIA 686A
i will try
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_756_759^871^2336,00.html
Windows® 2000/XP AGP Driver - Microsoft Digitally-Signed, Version 5.33 (Windows® 2000/XP only)  Download Now! Mar. 2002
AMD AGP Driver Version 5.33 for Windows 2000/XP

REQUIREMENTS:
Motherboard with AMD-751, AMD-761, or AMD-762 System Controller (Northbridge), Windows 2000/XP, AGP video card

and this a link towards Asus

choose Motherboard -> Slot A and you will see all items Asus for the slot A

you 're thinking about which onboard video motherboard ?

no hope with a V3 on a platform AMD, only a V4 or a V5 are "compatible"

Indeed, the Direct3D blitter doesn't work with the Voodoo cards (but i would be curious with a V4 4500 or a 5500... ;)). The default DirectDraw should be fine.

But if you want an upgrade, the only hope is the following :

Update : why a V4 or a V5 ? because these 2 voodoocards are not limited to the 256*256 textures  :)

Frankly, i don't like the mobo's "all integrated", specially when this is onboard video, probably more limited than a real gfx card (the last cards support 64, 128 mo of video memory..)
Remember the intel i810, a chipset with very poor 3D capabilities

This is the same thing with an integrated audio : the mobo's "first price" can have an AC97 audio sometimes sufficiant but the mobo's "high tech" can have now 6 channel audio... (and you need good sound system of course)

But you can always disable via a jumper on the mobo or via the bios (or sometimes the video can be disabled automatically) before installing a "real" gfx card  (on a slot AGP if you have this slot present or a slot PCI but in this last case, finding a PCI gfx card will be more difficult ) or an other sound card (easy)

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / Amigamerlin 2.9XP ???

Amigamerlin 2.5 SE for Windows XP/Win2k

Amigamerlin 2.9 for Win9x/Me

i'm right but this pc is really small and the games old, the risk with the last drivers is that the old games don't run ; sometimes an "old" driver is a good choice specially with DirX7
but of course the amigamerlin's are an other good choice with nice picture quality
#1752
well, your games are "old" (but good :))
i would say the last 3Dfx reference drivers 1.07.00 22 Nov 2000 or the 1.06.00 27 oct 2000 + Wicked GL + DirX7.0 + the Glide 2/3 updated with the last Koolsmosky 's Stand-Alone Driver Core Components

of course your cpu is not very powerful, a V3 is probably very powerful for your pc ;)

hum, "cube 3d"
i saw this message (CUBE 3D SETUP V1.2) in an other game "nascar thunder 2003" (EA) with a V3 3K
this is the system information probably (cpu, ram, directX version) and the hardware setup (your video card)

well the problem might be the following : the game runs only in 32 bits (or a V3 can't run in 32 bits, only 16 bits)

it would be interesting to run the game with a V4 or a V5 in 16 bits

UPDATE : this game is a no-go for a V3 : the game uses larger than 256*5256 textures and a V3 supports only the textures 256*256...

EA Games said :
" Operating System                Microsoft Windows 98,ME,2000 or XP Pro/Home
Processor                400 Mhz or better Intel Pentium II or 100% Compatible
Memory                  128 MB or better
Hard Drive                Typical install requiring 500 MB free space.
CD/DVD Drive                4x or better
3D Accelerator                16 mb or better Direct X 8.1 compliant.
Sound Card                Direct X 8.1 compliant.
Game Controllers                Direct X 8.1 compliant.

Video cards that use the 3DFX chip (Voodoo brand etc.) no longer have support
for DirectX libraries 8.0 and above. As F1 2002 requires DirectX 8.1 or higher
you will not be able to run the F1 2002 Demo or indeed the final version of F1
2002 on these cards ".

Interesting because this game doesn't seem too demanding
The drivers support DirX.8 and DirX8.1 is backwards compatible
The only reason might be that Fifa2002 uses some DirX8 features

But do you install DirX8.1 ?
