Voodoo2 Discussions / Voodoo2 320x240 support
12 November 2004, 23:50:05
I know that officially the Voodoo2 doesn't suppport less than 512x348.
But the Voodoo graphics support 320x240, because the Voodoo2 is almost totally a voodoo graphics, wouldn't it support 320x240 then?
It is likely that the programmers just left out this low resolution because the thought it would be useless.

Voodoo2 Discussions / Driver comparison
20 July 2004, 15:53:04
I have been comparing the Voodoo2 drivers using 3dmark99 max Pro
I have used the following drivers:
3.03.00
3.02.02
fastvoodoo 3.0
fastvoodoo 3.5
fastvoodoo 4.0 (setting it on 90mhz not on the 93mhz default)
They were all tested on the same system using Win98SE.

And the performance was THE SAME with every driver.
I am certain that I have removed every driver and installed them correctly.

My system used a athlon 2400+ on a mobo with a KT600 chipset. The system and the voodoo's were not overclocked. So the CPU was NOT the bottleneck but the Voodoo2 were.
I think it is very strange that nothing has changed in performance.

How do you change the clockspeed of a voodoo/voodoo2 exactly??
Is it done by the Pll in the ramdac or does it work another way.

General Discussions / HSR
12 May 2004, 21:04:51
I know the Voodoo4/5 drivers have HSR ( Hidden Surface Removal).
But would it be possible to take the voodoo4/5 HSR as an example and than implement it into Voodoo1/2/3????

Today I ran some tests with my V2 SLI on my Athlon 2400+

With Quake2 I got 74fps (mesa (timedemo2)
With Glide Turok I got 200fps
With D3D Turok I got 151.1 fps

I don't think my Quake2 score is very high, I think it is to low.
I don't have any numbers to compare these with. Can someone run Quake2
for me because those old Benchmarks with a Pentium2 does not come close then with a Athlon.

Hi I was trying to run CoD with my v2 SLI cards.
But I gives me the  Can't open Opengl subsystem.
I  think that it is because it wants to set it to 32bit, but V2 has none, is it possible to set it to 16bit?

Ps I am running the FV4,5 drivers. ( For the FV team: no probs with it till now, even solved some probs with some games).

Does anyone know a bootdisk for Windows 98SE. Which can format the harddisk or scan it? And I do not mean the standard Windows 98SE one I am not able to use that one for a strange reason.

Voodoo2 Discussions / Voodoo2 with 110mhz
15 March 2004, 15:23:03
There are some voodoo2's equiped with 110mhz edo-ram.
And more impressing is the fact that the Mercury has 125mhz Edo-ram.

But now comes the question!!!! Which cards used 110mhz??
Till now I only know about the Skywell cards having 110mhz.
And does somebody know a way how to obtain Edo-ram chips of 22ns/16ns (110mhz/125mhz). I need these Edo-dram chips for placing them on my voodoo2's. Because then I can get over 120mhz or 130 (125mhz Edo).
I am already working on a project to place 25ns/100mhz on a voodoo1 card.

I am interested in the designs of the Voodoo1 and the Voodoo2 and offcourse the rest. But where can you get those designs????
Do I have to go to Nvidia?? Or are they available on the net somewhere. I think that maybe whe can get the designs of the Voodoo1/2 but not the Voodoo5, because it is maybe to recent, and technology can stil be used in several cards. But the Voodoo 1/2 heve both old technices that don't cause a threat to Nvidia.

Has somebody already tried to contact Nvidia?????
And was it succesful??

(I read somewhere that Nvidia did not purchase Voodoo3/4 technology

General Discussions / Voodoo2 Copper cooling
12 February 2004, 21:56:47
This is basicly my idea of how to cool my voodoo2,
The red round this are copper pins.
The stripes are fins.
PLEAS NOTE that this thing is totally not accurate, but because it would take to much work to draw it preciously, I did not.
It just to give you an idea.

Other Video Cards / Xgi has a new driver

This driver seems to be much faster with a lot of games. Now we just have to wait for the benchmarks results or reviews.

What skillz do you need to help with programming the source code for glide3. I know how to programm in C/C++ have done a little bit of basic. And know glide2x.
I want to help to modify glide3(koolsmoky's) so that it will support all voodoo's and more features.
I don't know how I have  to mail about this Koolsmoky, amigamerlin or
glide or dborca if I want to join.
