Following a mainbord list with full Voodoo support.
I remember that a lot of latest chipsets like Intel series dont't compile with Banshee, Velocity, Voodoo3, Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 boards (AGP version) due AGP 2X specs for Voodoo.
So all Voodoo PCI version haven't problems with all new, latest chipsets as well as some Voodoo4 AGP 4X version.

Don't forget our old and trusted friend, the Intel BX440 chipset.
Still the most stable chipset ever but it's only good for the PIII. [:(]
Asus P4P800 i865PE | Intel 2.8 GHz P4C | 512 Mb Kingston PC3200 Dual channel DDR SRAM | 80 Gb Western Digital SE HD | Plextor 12/10/32A CD-RW | Win2000 SP3 | ATI Radeon 9500 Pro | SoundMAX 5.1 Digital Audio|
Just note on the Soltek SL-75DRV2 VIA Apollo KT266A, this is the mobo i use, it does work just causes lots of problesm, like garbled text in some games, Startrek bridgecommander,SOF2 Double helix, Jedi 2 Outcast. and i'm using latest Amigamerlon + Wickedgl drivers
Hi,
I'm using the Chaintech Apogee p4 mainboard with geforce ti4200 with 2 v2's sli. It works fine, however, my voodoo 5 card will not fit in the AGP slot. That was a big surprise. When did they change the AGP standard anyway?
One thing to note is the issue with USB 2.0. It seems USB 2.0 is not compatible with Voodoo 2 so you must go into the bios and disable it. If you don't then the computer keeps searching for USB buses that it seems unable to find.[xx(]
Just for your reference.
Salute from Hearse
Add the Asus P3V133 and P3V4X to the compatable list.
The P3V133 has the Apollo Pro 133 chipset
The P3V4X has the Apollo Pro 133A chipset
Hi people, sorry for my english...i am brasilian...
I have a mobo very old called ASUS K7M AGP 1.0 (AGP 1X,2X).
I buy a videocard in these days called ECS XABRE 200 AGP 8X and
i tested in the K7M...All ok, videos ,snes games...but when i try to play games 3d, in few seconds the game freeze... somebody can help me?
The latest miniport driver of AMD NORTHBRIDGE is dated of 11.20.2000
(very old) and i have the latest driver xabre but games 3d freeze and dont run...

One thing : I am a voodoo fan and i preffer voodoo 4 4500 pci, i used
the voodoo 4 4500 pci for 2 years and dont have problems at this time,
now i have problems with ecs xabre 200 and asusk7m.
I have an ASUS P4S533 which has a Universal AGP slot and my Voodoo 5 5500 AGP works sweet :) (2500+ 3DMark 2001 SE 330 score with my P4 2,26GHz :), I like to brag ;)).
The entire ASUS P4S533 serie has universal AGP slots with the exception of the P4S533-X. AGP Voodoo's should work on all of those. Also, the P4S333 serie should also be able to support Voodoo AGP cards. There could be some cards in that serie however, that don't support Voodoo AGP cards.
@BASTOS FILHO
The card pulls too much power that the board can't provide. There is no soulution, change the board of the graphics card.
@all, The Voodoo5 5500 works in nearly every board which supports 3,3V AGP, we should write in which boards it doesn't run.
I used a Voodoo5 5500 AGP in combination with many different chipsets. 440ZX, 440BX, i820, i840. ( The i840 is the last Intel chipset to support 3,3V. But even a 6000 runs in an i820.

Hello,
First, sorry for my poor english.
I try not help someone who have a problem with a Voodoo 5. The CG is not recognized by the BIOS. When it's start his computer, he has 2 long beep et 1 short, and nothing on the monitor.
Motherboard : asustek meb vm
chipset: socket 370 intel 440zx/100.
He have a voodoo 3 before and that work. The voodoo 5 have been tested on another computer.
Any idea ? That could be a compatibility problem ?
[?]
Thank's.
hum, do you use the power supply Y-cable in order to connect your V5 to the power supply ?
hello, yes he do.
I got a QDI Advance 10T. Apollo Pro chipset. I think it will support AGP 4x too... *goes and checks manual* yup, AGP 2.0 compliant. Had zero problemo with Voodoo 4500agp until I tried to play homeworld 2 and upgraded to Dx9b. GrrrrrrrrRAR.
And just to agree with Nightbird. I got two Epox EP-MVP3G5 (which has no onboard sound, I know one of th MVPGx models does have it) using apollo MVP3 chipset, running NT4.0 one with voodoo 4500 agp. Zero problemo there.
Avoid the TMC AI5VG+ - apollo MVP chipset yes, S3, Voodoo, TnT support - forget it. Also forget the TI5VG+. Sux. Not that anyone is about to rush out and buy one anyway lol!
Right er so we's all waiting for the new DX9b beta drivers yes?
As the deer pants after the brook, so I pant after dx9b compatibility (forgive me GOD I have waited yonkos for homeworld 2).
4500x2, please, full Directx9 support is completely impossible, because the voodoos (none of them) have support in hardware for the technology required by directx9. So please, stop posting about it. Amigamerlin 3.0 will come when it comes, but it will not have full support for directx 9, but it will hopefully be better than 2.9. Please stop flooding with this begging.
Does anyone have a list or good advice on wich matx board to get for a v5 card? I've been searching a lot, but all the ones I see only support 1,5v agp!
Thanks a lot!
search for a mATX KT333 board and you have it ;)
kt333 is the last (and best) chipset for 3,3v voodoo cards! but do not use kt333ce models...they have 1,5v agp!
Intel i440bx it's a good old school Chipset i have a abit be6-2 v 1.1 it runs fine for the voodoo 5500 agp
Thanks for great info..I seen the MSI KT3 is listed as working with a voodoo 5500,this past week i picked up a MSI KT3 ultra2 standard version,KT333 chipset,agp2.0 1x/2x/4x unversal agp slot thats not keyed that i got for 7$USD.
heres the link to the stats from msi
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&prod_no=497
Its looking like a sure thing to me..just wanted to ask and make sure i didnt overlook anything.I tried to upload a pic but wouldnt work..The basic board doesnt have the extra 2 ide's,sata or raid and the northbridge has a heatsink only,no fan.
Just wanted to list a few socket478 boards that are agp 2.0 for working with a 3DFx Voodoo 5500
Biostar
U8668
U8668 D
U8668 Grand
P4SFA
Biostar P4SFA: The test PDF from biostars website states the AGP was fully tested at 3.3V and passed 100%!!This will replace my KT333 Athlon XP 2800 with a socket478 SIS chipset(yea i groaned too)P4 2.8 and this will add close to 200mhz more FSB and 600mhz more in CPU speed. The U8668,D,Grand are all the same boards and chipsets except for ram speed and ram type(the grand uses 2 ddr or 2 pc ram)
any updates on this page? also, looking at some of the boards listed, a quick google search seems to say that some of the are only agp 1.5v ? witch is no good for a v5500, only v4 and v5 6000.
could there be an edited list with more detail as to exactly what is suitable for v5500 AGP rather than the v6000.
When a mainboard is suitable for a V5-6000, then a V5-5500 will run as well.
Look here :

Scroll down to the mainboard listing.
thanks dude. [8D]
just wondering, if i decided to get a PCI voodoo 5 5500, and fit it to AMD 64 3500+ motherboard, will it be faster than using my existing AGP version running in an older high end AMD athlon XP system ?
No.
I'm running now a voodoo5 PCI together with a phenom 9850BE( 4x2500MHz ).
The speed is limited to the PCI bus. ( 33Mhz ).
For example in 3DMark2001 i get with the V5 PCI version now 2700 points in the quad core system.
With the V5 AGP version you get the same points with a single core cpu.
oh... :( but, no loss in performance tho?
i guess the pci voodoo running on the quad core will at least give you a pc that is going to be faster doing non-gfx related stuff tho? over an older 3.3 v agp system.
any idea what the cpu 'celling' is for voodoo 5 performance? (the point at witch faster cpu's make no difference)
or would if run faster if your cores were running at 3.0ghz instead? as i doubt the v5 or 3dmark 2001 pay any atention to the other cores, or new insturction sets? i'm guessing the voodoo only benifits from traditional speed in mhz on just one of the 4 cores.
Aopen AX45-V sis 645 works with the voodoo5 5500 AGP
Hi thrasher_565,
you're welcome.
Many thanks for your report.
Bye bye
Hi all.
I add the motherboard ASUS CUBX-L with the legendary Intel chipset 440BX.
Bye bye
