looks like they are trying to create new 3Dfx cards using old chips and new custom boards in Russia - this could be interesting. any Russian speaking forum members that could check the details?

haven't been there for a few months, and unfortunately missed all that going to close down mid 2017 thing, so I didn't get a chance to say goodbye and thank you, so I'm doing it here, hoping someone will see it eventually.

in the end, everything is just ashes and dust, I suppose.

I had a couple of requests for AGP.5 documentation, and finally, I have managed to get my hands on it-I'm dropping it to the google share for anyone who might be interested.

the files are a bit of a mess (pdfs, pictures, text files, htm files and schemas made in Eagle), but anyone with enough skill to actually finish the project should have little trouble finding his way around.


Ren says hello & good luck to anyone who is going to take a shot at the project-unfortunately, there is no way he is going to have the time to finish it himself.




feel free to rehost the archive, just make sure to add a proper description (original AGP.5 documentation by Ren or something similar).. :)

big news for anyone who loved to play those three classic games-right now,eidos has the complete source code of the dark engine,and their legal department is thinking hard whether to release it or not..so,if you want to help them make the right decision,please,sign the petition,and spread the news to as many gamers as possible ;)

3D Analyze is a tool designed to overcome certain SMALL limitations of old graphics hardware-it can emulate hardware T&L (using software T&L),bypass hardware id checks,force different texture formats,fix known bugs in old drivers,and a couple of other little tricks that can help you with error analysis.


it is,however,NOT MEANT to replace your graphics card-if a game requires full pixel shader (or any other advanced feature) support,3D Analyze is NOT GOING TO HELP you-there are NO settings that will allow you to play today's demanding games (such as gta4) on your 10 year old 16-32 MB graphics card.


to make it short-we (moderators&advanced users) WILL try to help you with your 3DAnalyze settings,but unfortunately,in 99% of cases our answer will always be the same-you will have to buy new hardware if you want to run new games.

Games / Esoteria retail 3dfx patch?

guys,any chance someone has a working 3dfx exe for this old game around? the one that comes with the game is apparently a non-working stub (which makes it the first 3dfx patch that doesnt support 3dfx,and as nutty as it may sound,the readme confirms it).

I'm trying to get it running in hw glide mode (voodoo2) using the demo (prequel) 3dfx exe,but so far no luck (both the demo and the retail version lock up immediately after entering the game)..tried googling a bit but it looks like no patches were ever released for the full game,so I dont really know if there ever was a retail 3dfx exe in the first place..maybe someone will know.

I need a screenshot of the back side of a voodoo5 5500 pci,as fast as possible.I have just received a 5500pci from ebay,and I have problems with it (only 800*600*4bit after installing drivers,no 3d function),it seems like one capacitor is broken off..thanks..

W40K Dawn of War: SFFT A28,3DA (Emulate HW TnL caps, Emulate other DX8.1 caps, Vendor ID= 4098, Device ID= 20812),running on a voodoo4 4500PCI,athlonXP 3000 CPU.runs perfectly fine (some small texture errors are present though,see the last screenshot)

..using the latest SFFT.you will have to run in a window and set your desktop to 16bit if you want to launch the game:

runs fast enough (athlon xp 3000 CPU),but looks bad,mainly because most of the textures are larger than 256*256.It would look WAY better with sw rescalling,but I dont think someone is going to do sw rescaling for D3D..unless SFFT wants to make another miracle and copy the sw rescalling from mesafx somehow[8D]

I need to force the 24bbp->16bbp 4x4 ordered dither matrix to 2x2 for glide/opengl apps via an enviromental variable.(lets hope koolsmoky still visits the forum from time to time;))
