Hi I've just installed this on my machine and it says it won't run because "CUBE 3D" can't install because no DirectX v8 video adapters are available. However the install of the F1-2002 itself checked for DirectX v8 and said they were there and it didn't need to install them.
Any ideas? Anyone got this game working with a Voodoo 3500 TV running AmigaMerlin 2.5 drivers? Is there a setup stage I've missed?
EA Games said :
" Operating System Microsoft Windows 98,ME,2000 or XP Pro/Home
Processor 400 Mhz or better Intel Pentium II or 100% Compatible
Memory 128 MB or better
Hard Drive Typical install requiring 500 MB free space.
CD/DVD Drive 4x or better
3D Accelerator 16 mb or better Direct X 8.1 compliant.
Sound Card Direct X 8.1 compliant.
Game Controllers Direct X 8.1 compliant.
Video cards that use the 3DFX chip (Voodoo brand etc.) no longer have support
for DirectX libraries 8.0 and above. As F1 2002 requires DirectX 8.1 or higher
you will not be able to run the F1 2002 Demo or indeed the final version of F1
2002 on these cards ".
Interesting because this game doesn't seem too demanding
The drivers support DirX.8 and DirX8.1 is backwards compatible
The only reason might be that Fifa2002 uses some DirX8 features
But do you install DirX8.1 ?
As memory serves me it wont work....
"cube 3d"?
dunno what that is....
could be Cube Mapping i spose which Voodoo`s dont do....
hum, "cube 3d"
i saw this message (CUBE 3D SETUP V1.2) in an other game "nascar thunder 2003" (EA) with a V3 3K
this is the system information probably (cpu, ram, directX version) and the hardware setup (your video card)
well the problem might be the following : the game runs only in 32 bits (or a V3 can't run in 32 bits, only 16 bits)
it would be interesting to run the game with a V4 or a V5 in 16 bits
UPDATE : this game is a no-go for a V3 : the game uses larger than 256*5256 textures and a V3 supports only the textures 256*256...
