Until last year December, I had an AMD K6-2 of 450 Mhz and 256 Mb RAM, and XP ran fine on it, too (wow, MS Windows "running fine" - isn't that a contraditio in terminis? :-p )

AssBurn, what internet connection do you have: broadband or dial-up?

Hello people,

I have a problem with Windows 2000 and my Voodoo 4, and I hope that someone here can help me out.

Does Glide (and Glide-games) work under Windows 2000, SP 4?

Okay, here is what happens: I have two computer games, written in Glide, for Voodoo's, called "Indepencende War" and "Defiance", space combat simulators. They are old(er) games, more than 5 years old now.

Due to RAM-problems last year, I had my computer upgraded with a new mobo, CPU and OS, now being an Asus A8V Deluxe, an Athlon64 3000+ and Windows XP Pro, SP2.

Although the aforementioned games should run in software-mode on new (non-Glide) graphics card, these games do not run...

Some German, nicknamed "Zeckenzack", has written a program to emulate Glide on non-Glide games ("GlideWrapper"), but still, these games do not run...

So, I got me a Voodoo 4 on eBay (my very first Voodoo, so to speak, was a "Diamond Monster 3D add-on card", long ago...), I replaced my old Geforce2 MX with the Voodoo 4, but these games still did not run.

I thought it was because of XP, so I installed Windows 2000 (I had problems installing WinME (better than Win98) on this motherboard), hoping that these two computer games would work. But they still do not run.

So, my question is: How do I get these two old, "Glide-games" to run on my computer?
My current config:
- Athlon64 3000+
- Asus A8V Deluxe
- 1024 Mb DDR-RAM (2x 512)
- Windows 2000, with SP 4
- Voodoo 4 AGP, with the Amigamerlin drivers, hardware acceleration enabled.

The Voodoo works as good as my old Geforce2 MX (daily 2D-use).

A messageboard about those games give tips to get them to run on XP (like limiting virtual memory, switching off hardware acceleration, using that "GlideWrapper"), but nothing makes those games run.
So, how do I get these Glide-games to run on W2K?
Why don't these two games start, if they should?

Can anyone help me out? I hope so...
