The driver language is hungarian, may i try to transalate it, but i can not spek english well, but i try to explain how to use this driver.

2. To skip the intro, press enter!
3. Press "Tovább", "Tovább", then "Kezdés" buttons!
4. Restart computer!
5. To run a Direct3D game, grab the icon of the game with the mouse, and drop it to the
"Voodoo2 Direct3D indítópult.lnk" icon in the desktop!
This is a beta release, so ay occur the following problems:
1. May glide2x/3x/opengl will not run, an error appears.
2. May the system hangs and/or a wrong display seen in the monitor.
Tested & compatible primary videocards: Nvidia Geforce FX, Riva128
Tested and not compatible cards: Trident cards released before 1994
May not compatible: ATi Radeon series

@Geri:
Can you post some D3D benchmark results such as 3Dmark 99 MAX??
I am wondering how much better the D3D part of the driver is compared to the 3dfx reference drivers.

Im only geting directdraw support no direct3d and i have problem with lanuching the bat.file. When i try to start a game it says that my card dosent support diect3d or the computer restarts. But mayby this is becauce im using wink2.

Post by: perer on 28 November 2004, 16:48:37
I have just ran 3Dmark 99 max pro:
Specs 1024x768 ran all tests 10 times.
The score I got was 4049
And the download link doesn't work for me either. I am only getting a smal file with inside it link.txt.

EDIT. I understand this is a Winxp Only driver so it is useless for the win98se users :(.

@ perer
Under Win9x, the 3dfx drivers or the FastVoodoo's have proved that they are good.
Expect nothing under Glide and OpenGl except with specialists like D.Borca or Koolsmosky.

@ ALL USERS : WARNING
This "driver" is un-tested (except by his author (?)) and for now nobody (?) knows what's exactly new and how it works.
Keep in your mind that you're for now beta-testers.
So before trying it, backup your system and registry !

Post by: Geri on 28 November 2004, 18:44:02
Yes, this is a WinXP only driver! I think its not compatible with Windows 2K/9X/ME!
Install it with install bat, and u need manualy install it too from the driver\inst_1 directory.
When the install procedure is ready, it will a link appears in the desktop, named "Voodoo2 Direct3D indítópult.lnk"
The game who u want to run, drag and drop to Voodoo2 Direct3D indítópult.lnk!!!
The game will run in direct3d.

Points in 3dmark: i dont tested it, but i tested with:
KiSS: Psycho Circus: works ok (D3D)
1911: system hang
Mercedes Benz Truck Racing demo:works ok (D3D)
Insane: Works ok (Glide)
3Dmark2k1: dont work
Some small 64 k Direct3D scene demos: not all work...
I dont tested OpenGL games yet.

Tell me some international ftp server, and i try to upload it!

The 102BM version is REMOVED! Download only this:

u need install as any other driver from INST_1 directory, but u must run the install bat too!!!!!!!!!
This version is tested with:

-Innovision Voodoo2
-Diamond Monster 3d II

system:

-ECSk7S5A
-2200Mhz AMD
-GeForceFX 5200 128 mbyte
-Riva128
-SiS6326
-WinXP

May occur:
If any anomaly apper, or windows start with blue death after a Direct3D crush with this driver, press f8 when system start, and select VGA mode. This will resolve the problem!!!!

THe download now works with me, although it is yet again painfully slow.
@Patience, I agree on the part that Opengl is something where Dborca is great at, and Koolsmokey has also made some nice Glide3x files (I am offcourse forgetting all the rest of the good stuff they made sry guys). But there still isn't a new Glide3x for V1/V2/Rush yet. (were working on it).

Well, some bells&whistles are only things that work:D I mean when moving a shortcut to "Voodoo2 Direct3D indítópult" icon, nice Gourad - shaded splash screen appears, then screen is being switched for a few times, then the game (Gothic)loads. However, still showing my primary adapter (Radeon 9200) as a renderer.
Glide is completely broken with an error window showing up and saying: "Genport I/O initialization failure". Guess it needs some time to reach ALPHA Labs :D...or it's me who messed (missed?) something.

Thats bad!

:(

i dont know whats wrong...

Enthomologist: do you installed the Voodoo2 device from inst_1 directory too? I think this is the problem...
(Genport i/o initialization error appears when the driver not install the glide2x into the registry. U may not instelled the Device from the system propertypes.)

Everione: Install the Voodoo2 in the hardware tab in system propertipes too, otherwise this driver will not work!

2Geri: thanks for your response. I actually did two things. First, ran the setup.bat file. It has launched the internet connection window so i, while still worry:)connected to net (checkin' for a new version or...?). But nothing other has happened than an offline-html site on my screen, setup.bat still showing a blinking cursor. So i repeated the first action to see this highly anticipated intro:) and, at last, the installer menus where i clicked anything related to standard IShield buttons: "next" and "finish" in appropriate positions;). A driver installation window then showed up and i applied. After that i went into the Device Manager and pointed a new driver location to the (in)famous INST_1 directory in the already extracted package. So i assume i did everything in right order, including reboot. The new device has been shown in the DM as a video card and was "working properly". However, i made a check in registry - there was no 3dfx keys at all or anything related. Maybe some installer fix is needed? It still seems to be too much "manual work" for an average user, though a voodoo2 owner shouldn't be a n00bie these days:) Sorry for my gramma, awaiting your suggestions, Ent.

Only some notes : ;)
- The size of the file : 33.5 mb !!
- This "driver" uses obviously the 3dfx V2 driver 1.00.00 beta, running under Win2k (but with many limitations because of the Win2k kernel) and later some people reported that it ran also under XP.
- Why some files are in the "driver" 3 times ?
3dfxogl.dll
3dfxVgl.dll
opengl3x.dll
This is always the same 761 Icd.
- Why an init. file for WinGlide ?
...

edit :
You write also :
"Yes, this is a WinXP only driver! I think its not compatible with Windows 2K/9X/ME!"
Sure that's not compatible with Win9x or ME. ;)

Did you try also the Sli ? the core doesn't support it.

-Yes it uses the sys files from the Win2k 1.00.000 beta, that running under WinXP too, but no glide and openGL support.
The inf file is created by mee, and it supports Glide/OpenGL and direct3D.

-Its not a bug. This files need for the non-beta versions, that are not complete yet.

-WinGlide? I add winglide too to the final version, it will support full window glide rendering, without any file copying, yust checking an option in the final version.

-Yes this Driver (up to 1.0.4!!!) Support SLI but only in Glide/OpenGL mode, and not support different Voodoo2 cards.
The SLI is not tested yet. Try it.
Whit my two different Voodoo2 only the monitor clicks to o.k., but the system crush (but not this glide files.)
In the future may the SLI work with different Voodoo-s....

Well, I have a Radeon 9600XT ViVo (Video In, Video Out) basically in system properties I can see  two adapters. When I install 1.04 drivers and restart, WindowsXP doesn´t show icons on my desktop and toolbar task doesn´t appear. I have to restart my computer on Failsafe and restore a backup of my computer.
I have been proving a lot of times deleting some startups icons and other programs from init and nothing. However next week I'd prove it with an GeForce card.

My computer:
AMD Athlon 1600XP+
512Mb
ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128Mb ViVo
Voodoo2
Windows XP SP1
DirectX 9.0c

Ummm, your plans of future are very interesting .... if you plan to offer driver support into varius languages I can help you to translate to spanish ;)

enabling disabling anti aliasing (it semms it not work yet :( )
+ enabling / disabling 24 bit rendering in glide/openGL
removed 3dfx splash screen when windows boot up.
I know its looks out very nice, but it cause screen errors with ati dx9 cards.
In the driver the boot up 3dfx logo will be adjustable (default off).

For any sake i am ready to translate your drivers to polish - i suspect it will be the first 3dfx driver in my language:)(although i don't know exactly the late 3dfx Tools packages, let's assume it's about V2 drivers).

Well I'll translate the texts into spanish.

Good job and good luck with ATI Radeon's problem.

koolsmokys driver has fixes for memmap errors AND desktop corruptions.you can use the fixed glide2x in any driver,it will fix the desktop corruption (when using a radeon card)..
I have checked your text:
*640x480 at*  ==>at? what is at?
*pset*  ==>what is pset?
*Puffer optimize*  ==>you mean buffer optimization?
menu$(knyelv, 5, 11, 1)="Alwais"  ==>you have a typing error in *always*,its y not i;)

you dont need to use wickedgl demo,a full version is available
(edit : link removed)
keep up the good work ;)

1) this version is not "legal"
2) this file is not "abandonware"
3) Metabyte who owns the name WickedGl is always in business.

So thks to post only here "legal" links.

i think, when the pepoles, who whant to transalate, transalate the texts, i relase the driver.

Got some question regarding translation. The lines "old monitor"/"new monitor" - should one mean a "legacy"/"modern" or maybe a "previous"/"current" monitor? I suspect the first, but just for sure.
Besides, have you tested some glide3x games like Diablo 2, Divine Divinity (the last glide game i know  excluding Earth 2150 add-ons and Tactical Ops, doesn't work properly in this mode with any V2 driver in XP i know), Turok2:Seeds of Evil?

* = tested games...

Earth 2150 runned fine, with xp, but not yet, a few years before...
I think it will playable with this driver too,

old monitor: old monitor, low resoultion and refresh rates. New monitor: good refresh rates and resolution...

good & bad news:
the good: -the driver is complete
the bad: -the server uw.hu has problems, and it stopped hosting files above 1 mbyte. I think the error will be fixed in this week.
When the uw fix ther problems, i upload the voodoomage2 XP 2.0.0

it support only hungarian and english now...

so, u must sleep a few days... :)

@Geri: Did you mean: PRESET?
Title: LegendgrafiX VooDooMage 2 WindowsXP D3D GL OGL
Post by: enthomologist on 26 January 2005, 21:42:48
Preset = a bunch of settings defined for pre-configuration purposes, ie. in a batch file (like voodoo environment set in a .bat file for a particular game).

Post by: ps47 on 27 January 2005, 16:20:36
..and one more question (technical this time):
the pass-through (external hook up that connects the voodoo2 to the primary card) cable works normally? or do I need to remove it before using D3D (just like with the whitetiger7s driver)? this is quite important..
btw, your english is quite good.mine was much worse when I joined the forums ;)

ps47: normally, like u used in windows 9x, but u must run the your game.exe with the voodoo2.exe.

I think he has just answered this question;)
this is the unique feature of the legendgrafix driver-the ability to run D3D games in pass-through mode just like under win98.and this was thought to be impossible by 3dfx :D (if you read the 3dfx beta drivers readme),it just proves that any task can be done if one really wants [8D]

:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You are bejond this world!!!!
Where did you acquired all this skill??
Where did you found the time??
In about 3 months you have overcame all the 3dfxzone work in the voodoo 2 xp area..and i think you should do the same whit the '98 release..amazing!!
I have been into the site linked in your profile..is very much interesting but I'm not very skilled with magyar..when (no urgency uh?) you'll traslate all in english, I'll become your top visitor! ;-)
Muchas gracias for all the work!!
Why don't you come in Italy for a cup of vino, a dish of tagliatelle with ragù and a pizza? ;-)

Ciao Ciao
Manuelson, soon powered by legandgrafix and 2 Voodoo2!!

@Geri: why not split the file into smaller files about 1MB? This would be better than nothing, just use WinRar to make volumes... Some sites have been already hosting driver packages in this manner, ready to archive them on floppies. Geri, an advice :
- Try in first to upload your driver on Your server.
This way, you can think that nobody will be tempted to ask you for money or some credit because he/she hosts your driver on "his/her" server (except your host of course).

- If you try WinRar like enthomologist said, use an old version like 2.8. Why ? to have a best compatibility with old versions of WinRar.

It's not necessary, as far as he's gonna make a multi-volume SFX file.

Is it about SLI? Have you tried with different PCI slots? I've also noticed that different V2 models behave in various ways on my rig in SLI mode, for example the Amax 12MB works with my Guillemot Maxigamer3D 12MB flawlessly while the same Guillemot aka EON Electronics with the Volcano2 12MB makes either my soundcard disappearing or the HDD not waking up.

:o, nice job on the drivers Geri.

I installed them with my two Voodoo 2s (Diamond Monster 3DII specifically, 12mb) in SLI and it works. They're now reconized as display adapters. I havn't had a chance to test direct3d yet, but OpenGL and Glide work. The Voodoo2.exe configure file is nice too..

Specs:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 3200 Clawhammer
Asus K8V Deluxe
2x 512mb RAM
Radeon 9800XT

Yeah, Direct3D and such work..the only thing is that in my SLI setup, when it switches to D3D mode it outputs on the other Voodoo 2 card, since I have dual monitors I can work around this without having to switch cables..but is this suppose to happen?

Connect the two Voodoo2 with SLI cable too, and it will work!

So connect thee two card with the passtrough cable, and the voodoo to the 2d card too, and may no problem happend using two voodoo2 in sli with my driver in direct3d!

But i think the direct3d in sli not yet work...
Sombody test it pls with two and one voodoo2 in direct3d... if it faster, the d3d work with sli... if not, the the sli not work yet with direct3d, only one voodoo2 will  be affected with d3d...

But the d3d works :)

ok,tested the driver on my v2 SLI,here goes:

-SLI in d3d doesnt work.only one card is used.anyway, having D3D is great succes.
-when I loaded the driver on both cards, the driver stopped working completely.I had to install it only for the primary voodoo2 card to get it working.strangely,SLI in glide works even if there is no driver installed for t he second voodoo2
-the driver has no uninstaller (or I was not able to find it).I forgot to back up the registry and I spent half a hour cleaning my registry.
-the driver is way too complicated.too many options, too many stuff.I would suggest you make the next release as simple as possible, that means glide/3dfx opengl and direct3d,nothing else.no control panel,no additional files (perhaps reg entries to modify refresh rates-just like fastvoodoo2).simplier driver=easy to use, easy to work with.

overall: good job,the driver has great potential, but needs lot of work.;)

No, actually it happens even only a single V2 is present...
it have conflicts with other devices (for memory address or io address, forgotten), but as my board is from Acer, so i can't change it neither in WinXP nor the BIOS about sharing the resources..

I've been proving this driver but I've have some problems with my Radeon 9600. This is what may occurs:

I did this steps:
1.- Install LegendGraphics-VoodooMage2 2.00 ->OK
2.- I copy newer files of ATI's Radeon Fix (SYS.RAR) to "Windows\System32"
3.- Restart my computer
4.- Now, here's the problem. When I enter on the screen in where I must choose the user, I don´t see nothing, only a blank screen, but I can to interact with the user I want. I know this because when I click on XXXXXX (remember that I don't see anything) I enter with a user and I can ear Windows's sounds.
5.- When I choose the user X I enter to desktop, and now I can see only the background of my desktop. I can't see any icons or taskbar, and to shutdown my PC I have to pulse the Power Button.

In SafeMode there's no errors on Voodoo 2 card and I see the same settings of memory adresses than others drivers of Voodoo2.
I disabled all of services and programs of startup, and nothing.

Now, after a few days I can use this driver, but only with Glide games. In OpenGL games like UnrealTournament, it start with my primary card.
And with Direct3D games, when I run its, I only see my desktop with no icons, no taskbar and it is resized (much bigger). Others times, I run the game in Software Mode, like as UT2004.

I think that Direct3D uses my primary card as 3D accelerator, but in my monitor I can see the third adaptor (Voodoo2). Note: In Display Properties I can see three adapters: Radeon 9600 Series - Radeon 9600 Series Secondary - 3dfx Voodoo2

In dxdiag, I only see my ATI Radeon 9600, no others displays.
I've tried to disable secondary display of Radeon but I have the same problems.

I also have proving uninstalling drivers manually and then installing its. Now I can see at startup 3dfx logo, but I have a desktop corruption. I can't see images of icons and taskbar is now black, icons on my desktop are transparents and "My documents", "c:\", etc icons are in black.

Also, I've been proving UnrealTournament and Quake3 and here are my conclusions:
Everytime I run a game with shortcut LegendGraphics VoodooMage, display changes resolution about three times (1024x768 -> 800x600 -> 640x480). When it set to 640x480 I only can see desktop background without any icons and taskbar. If i take a screenshot I'll see two desktop, in the left of image I see desktop background without any icons and without taskbar and in the right of image I see the game I'm running. Only occurs this when I run a game with LegendGrafix VoodooMage shortcut.

I hope that this works. Thanks for your help.

NOTE: If I can, I would put a few images of this (screenshots).

Well, now I reinstalled all drivers and I've used the patch that mentions ps47 and I do not have desktop corruptions, but games does not run in OpenGL and D3D.

First of all I want to say that when I UT'99 in Direct3D, display changes resolution three times and show desktop background without any icons, and at the third change of resolution it stops. I can see left image of this:

(//)

and I doesn't see the right image. I took this image with a Screenshot, and I doesn't understand this. When I disable Voodoo2 and I take a screenshot I only see one display not two in the screenshot. The same occurs if I disable ATI Radeon 9600 - secondary display (I see 2 images).

What can I do? Somebody have proved a Radeon 9600 with a Voodoo2? If I format my PC and install at first time LegendGrafiX VoodooMage2 can I solve my problems?.

There are any method to include images in this forum. I have had to upload this image to a free public server. Thanks. [8)]

Yes, I have disabled ATI Radeon secondary display but it doesn't work.

Here are what I can see in differents tests into Direct3D:

ATI first and secondary activated + Legendgrafix VoodooMage2 -> If I take a screenshot and I paste it into Paint I see two displays in the image, like image in my previous post. When I run the game I can see only left image (Desktop background without any icons and taskbar).

ATI first activated and secondary disabled + Legendgrafix VoodooMage2 -> If I take a screenshot I can see only one image like left image (desktop background) in my previous post. I only can see Desktop background without any icons or taskbar.

ATI first and secondary activated + Voodoo2 driver (whith no Legendgrafix VoodooMage2 init) -> The screenshot is normal (one display), I can see the game and no desktop background.

I plan in the next days to format my PC and install the drivers at first time, to test its.

I created the new version of the driver, but i cant upload it, in home my net is dead :)

So when i have a net, i will upload the drivers.

version 2.2.0XP - multilanguage
fixed:
-now SLI works
-mismatched SLI support
-Stingray 24 / Obsidian X16/X24 now works

still containing small bugs:
-in some situations the monitor runs only at 60Hz

It works without any errors in my system:

K7S5A + ~2200 Mhz AMD (143Mhz FSB)
384 Mbyte DDR-RAM
Ati Radeon 9550@9600 128 mbyte 128 bit
Diamond Monster 3D 2 12 mbyte +

Geri I have one question. Have you experienced problems with previous release of this driver with your ATI Radeon 9600 or the problem is in my computer?.

I only can say that when I format my PC and reinstalled all the drivers I had the same problem -> when I run "LegendGrafix VoodooMage2 icon" I only see a blank screen (in OpenGL) or desktop background (in D3D) and if I take a screenshot and I paste into Paint I can see two displays (left with desktop background and right with the game running, using my ATI Radeon 9600). I hope this new version resolve this problems :).

I created the previous with GeForceFX5200, but i tested it with a Radeon7000, S3 Savage4, and SiS6326. I get some bugs only with the Savage, but i fixed it before is relased the driver.
With the radeon 7000, i dont seen any bugs.
When i have buyd my Radeon9550@9600, i dont tested the driver... I know, Voodoo1/2 has problems with the DX9 Radeons. So i have implemented to the driver the Radeon patch dll-s, without testing the previous drivers. I hope the new driver will be ok.
And you must now disable the secondary radeon.. It works perfect with them.

May i download it a few days later...

Yup, and i forgot: full english readme + help ;)

Glide and opengl ( wickedGL ) works good @ the moment. But i noticed that the performance can't get close to the results of Fastvoodoo2 4.6 package. Actually i noticed a huge FPS loss as when i use glide2/3x with wickedGL from the fastvoodoo package.
Direct3D works !! but on the most games i tested it on i got the messange: Failed to create primary surface.

Will not work with regular drivers, in the 3Dfx display settings, it will detect SLI. I left it enabled to see what would happen, but all it does is the monitor goes black for 2 seconds and goes back to desktop. Disable the SLI (through the control panel.)And it functions again. Legendgrafix's drivers do not work at all. Either the screen goes black and drops back to desktop, screen goes black and monitor goes off and hangs the system, but no error messages. In SLI mode this happens. When the SLI cable is disconnected these drivers seem to work okay.

-Drivers I used were Legendgrafix's voodoomage 2.0.0, FastVoodoo2 XP 4.0, Hacked XP voodoo(normal)drivers. All seem not to work. Though only one has MM support. I tried yesterday to install Windows 98 SE on this system. It will not install becuase of a not enough memory error on install. I thought that was very funny becuase this system has 1536MB of RAM and 490GB of Hard Drive space. So i gave up on 98SE.
And Windows ME should stay dead. I am not trying that.

Tried Koolsmoky's driver after a clean install of XP SP2.
It installed without any problems, but would not detect SLI for
any reason. And kept getting a black screen when trying to
play any game that uses the glide API. Comes up with a error
"Failed to initialize driver".....Well i finally came across
a driver that supports both winxp and MM cards in SLI.
Only problem was that I didnt think it would work, becuase
appearently the other people on this forum could get it to work correctly with thier computers hardware configuration.
Tried the driver, and amazingly its works perfectly. In glide mode,
but has some problems with OpenGL(wicked3d/minigl) games.
The driver I tried was Glide's MM driver (0.22 or 0.23).
Maybe that driver was created and tested toward certain hardware
config's? I do not know, but the drivers work good for me.
Thanx everyone for your good help/insight!

dont known... The problem is the DDRAW driver of V2 creatd by 3dfx is a beta - stuff, and do not suport SLI, when installing it detects two standard-alone v2-s. I wondering, if exist some secret registry key that enabling this function, this may be possible, or some beta 3dfx ddraw files existing somewhere...

I want to thank you for all your hard efforts Geri!
I run voodoo d3d games at 1024*768 and it works like a charm. Only problem is that i can't get more than 75Hz screen update. I've played Carmageddon TDK2000 and it works like a charm. Final Fantasy VIII also works without bugs. It's like i'm playing it on Win98. I simply make my voodoo the primary graphic card in display properties and i uncheck the exteded dekstop on my original graphic card. Then i just boot the game like normal without draging it to the icon. I haven't experinced any problems or bugs yet.
Note: I only do that with d3d games. glide and opengl games i drag to the Voodoo2 icon!

Mr. Robson: the dragndrop lancher do the same thing - disabling 2d card, enabling voodoo, and restoring. If you can run the games in 1024 with this techniqe, with dragndrop is ok too... But i wondering: when i tested D3D in 1024 with the 2.0.0, i get errors. (i not tested 2.2.0, i thinkd it still not available)

Yupp I tould you carmageddon TDK2000 works like a charm in 1024..the problem is i can't run d3d games with the voodoo icon launcher. So I switch the voodoo card on manualy. And Geri you said that FF8 intro doesn't work corretly. I don't have any problems at all with it. I've not yet tested the 2.2.0 drivers i'm running with 2.0.0 I'm going to do a little more testing for you guys i haven't had much time lately but I will be posting! By the way I only have a single voodoo2 card maybe that's why? I'm not really sure the drivers just work like a charm

New version available.

bugs:
-may a bit slower than 2.0.0
-i forgot transalating some texts

Why exactly? Is this because of tweaks that had been finally made towards stability instead of performance, or new glide renderers mixed in? If this is a registry settings issue, what can we play with? D'led the driver, must check this "d3d 1K" weirdo myself[:p] Greetz, Ent.

Geri thanks for your patience.

Today I have reinstalled WinXP in my computer to install your drivers for the first time. I haven't a lot of time to play some games since this morning, but I have proven UnrealTournament'99 and runs very well in Glide and D3D. Something is wrong with this game in OpenGL, because it runs very slow (1 fps).

Now I have no problem with Desktop Corruptions, but I have to prove a lot of games. I'll tell you more when I have proven more games ;)

ok.

The problem was the following winth 2.0.0:

you may copyed the mismatched+radeon fix to the WinXP/System directory. This is wrong, the 2.0.0 re-owerwrite this files with the original dll-s.

Who may use 2.0.0, and want to use the mismatched package, the must download 2.2.0. This version not need the mismatched package!

Geri, I salute you!

Very interesting driver, you just broke up 3dfx and M$! :)

They simply said in the past it is impossible to use D3D on Voodoo 2 in Windows 2000/XP. But you already know it and I am glad to see they were both wrong.

Of course, you have many things to do with the driver. It is not the best solution to start the games with drag & drop to Voodoo2 icon. Isn't there any way to use V2 as an ordinary display adapter? Perhaps you are already going there...

Also, not everything is translated to English.

If you are interested, I can help you to translate the messages, help, etc. to some other languages - Bulgarian, Russian.

Geri, what is exactly the proper setup for V2 to work in dx mode in WinXP? I have no "real" card right now, just my ol'Rush and V2 SLI combined together; I installed your driver (220) and tried my luck with some old titles, none of them worked, even the "legitimate dx7" ones - still the same error, "cannot create primary surface", UT also falls back to software mode - DX9 issue? Glide is OK (SLI works). Greetz, Ent.

3Danalizer will be integrated to the driver.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To get full directx8,9,ogl acceleration, simply selection the dx9 acceleration and the special ogl in the control panel results all game and application runs tough 3dalanizer, without starting the game with the special way of the 3danalizer.

3danalizer's opengl acceleration will work tough MesaFX.

other thing:
the driver will be bigger.
I think its will be around 12 mbyte

THE STOP

I stop creating these drivers. The reasons:
-The 3dfx is dead now. It cant be relife-d.
-I hate writing/speaking in languages, that different from hungarian. I simply hate all, and i speak very bad english, i know.
-Voodoo2 is a very old hardware now.

Thanks for the help everybody, for helping transalations, and for other helps.

The 2.2.5 version will be relased, but not with all feature.

Damn :(

Very bad news...

About 2.2.5 fixed bugs - DirectX9/DirectX8/TnL support - NO - you just can't have TnL support, only emulation...

3dfx is not so dead. To many people still using Voodoo's, or at least emulators.

As example - I use Geforce 6600GT AGP + 2xVoodoo2 12 Mb PCI - for Glide support in many old games.
On my second computer I have Voodoo 5 5500 AGP. I have also Voodoo 3 3000 AGP, Voodoo 4 4500 AGP (4x compatible - ships in every AGP motherboard - from AGP 1x to 4x/8x), Voodoo Banshee AGP & PCI, Voodoo Rush Macronix, AT25 PCI, Voodoo 1 PCI. I missed only Voodoo 6 - haven't seen any real V6 around here (in Bulgaria).

But - it's your decision...

somebody will transalate if want.

Úgy érzem, most végre valami hasznosat csináltam, mikor ezt a drivert nekiálltam megírni. A driver pár hete majdnem belendült.
A tesztelés elõtt mindíg a megfelelõ mennyiségû csokit használtam :D csoki nélkül nincs driver, csoki nélkül nincs próba se :D
(https://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fvoodoomage.uw.hu%2Fcsoki.jpg&hash=8a4d7270c235f7e89911205dda8b10be26fd7864)
Szal.. Ez van. A csoki mindenek felett :)
Aztán voltak kemény béta tesztek is.

Doom3, Unreal, Alice, Crock, 3Dmark2001.
Akkor most bámulnánk ilyen TNT szintû grafikát.
15. Úgyhogy kattintok is apost gombra. Azért még elérhetõ leszek, de remélem mindenki tudja, hogy ezvolt az utolsó driver!
AZ INTRÓT NÉÉZZZE MEEEG MINDEENKIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! :)

bye

Hey, I have been trying this driver (xtreme version) and now I are triying it.

Geri, I have to congratulate you for the intro included in this driver. I have liked it a lot [8D] The design of menu is more actual, and specially the screenshots of the games in the PSet section is a good idea.

Well, some questions: where is the DX9 compatibility. It is integrated into this driver or there is to choose a game in the PSet?

I have tried this games:
BloodRayne: Is the first time I run this game with my Voodoo2.
UT2004: it enter the game, but when i load a level,  my system restarts.
Phantasy Star OnLine: works but it has instead of textures, a lot of colors.
Doom3: seems to be a few more fast at minimal fps.
Hitman C47: some textures in v2.4.0 saw with errors. Now it works great.
FuHQuake: is a mod for Quake to look better. In last version it works well, now my system restarts.
Unreal2: It works like previous version.

Geri, you have to have patience. Some users can be trying  this driver, like I :D. More news tomorrow ;)

Geri, you are wrong, there are many users!

I recommended your driver to many people in Bulgaria and they are using it.
I am using the regular version now. Perhaps I will test the extreme version in the weekend.

Some news for TnL compatibility. There is a three new projects in development that can be useful for new games:

- swShader: this project currently support Directx9 and mostly functions of Vertex Shader 2.0 and Pixel Shader 1.4 by software with more speed than DirectX REF (software) mode.
Go to http://www.transgaming.com/swiftshader.php

- x86mph: this project is a library that can be used in any project that you are developping. It support TnL functions and support SSE, MMX and 3DNow!. It is open-sourced!!!
Go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/x86mph

- Sage: an OpenGL from dBorca site, that support 3DNow!, SSE, vertex buffers and texture rescaling for larger textures.
Go to http://www.geocities.com/dborca/opengl/sage.html

Bye ;)

Doesn't work correctly on my system (V2 SLI). Direct3D doesn't run on the V2's, 1024x768 is buggy in Glide and OGL and uninstalling isn't possible too. :-( O.o

The only thing that this fabulous driver needs is the WickedGL but the version without the demo/beta splash screen, that splash is useless so I recommend to use the wickedGL version that comes with some ID Softwares games, it comes with the names openglv3.dll and openglv5.dll (they are two different versions), attached is openglv5.dll that comes with Return of Castle Wolfenstein, I lost my CD so I cannot post the openglv3.dll.

@ DooDg
Welcome :)
Right, the driver is experimental, as said ps47.
So if you need only Glide, the best would be perhaps to keep FastVoodoo2 4.0 XP Gold Edition.
Though it would be probably interesting to know why or where is the problem in LegendgrafiX VooDooMage 2 (if problem).
When Geri will come here, i think that he will help to resolve this "problem".

Hi DooDg!

How the problem comes up?
No glide games running, or only problem with the N64 emu?
Check the emu's dir, and you may have glide2x or glide3x dll-s in the emulator's directory.
If this files in the emu's dir exist, try to remove this files from the emu's dir.
If none of glide games starts, try to reinstall the driver.

and i can't Delete it or the emu will never work Supporting glide !

Post by: enthomologist on 09 February 2006, 01:09:17
I would try switching the opengl driver manually by renaming opengl32.xxxx files in the windows\system32 directory to opengl32.dll and just pasting them into particular games directories, when the original system opengl32.dll file will better stay in place to avoid trouble. Also see if your card is not pushed to much on clocks - in the Voodoomage control panel or, if you'd like rather to avoid that, in the registry itself, under HKLM\Software\3Dfx Inc.\Voodoo2\D3D or \Glide in the key sstv2_grxclk, you better stick with the default value of 90, higher values may be a problem sometimes, especially with mismatched boards in SLI.

DooDg: to resolve the system start hang problem, press start key + R, type MSCONFIG and enter, and disable all Voodoomage stuffs.

If you cant resolve the Glide/OpenGL hang, please try to install version 2.2.0, and retry with it. If this not helped, install again the 2.5.x version, go to control panel and disable 24bit Glide rendering, set voodoo's clock to 88mhz.

If this not works, be sure in that you installed correctly the Voodoo2's, you can found the installation tutorial at http://voodoomage.uw.hu/faq/install_eng.html and installed the voodoo's firmly.

If this not helps, please try to update your primary graphics card's driver.
Supported primary cards:
from TNT2 -> GeForce7800 (default winxp drivers dont supported)
from Radeon7000 -> Radeon x1900 (use latest Catalyst driver, you dont need any patch to driver to resolve display corruption bug)
-SiS6326
-Riva128
-Se Savage4 (need the latest driver)

Be sure that the correct driver files are installed, and its not owerwrited with any files.

I relase the source of my old stuffz.
Source of VoodooMage2 will be also relased a few days later.
Now i work on a new web page, a better looking... I finish it, and relases the old sources.
So...

What will be relased?
-The source of the menu system/control panel
-The source of the device detacher / re-attacher mechanism

How to re-compile it?
- U need a DarkBasic classic 1.0.8
OMG what is that?
- That is a old slow idiot stuff. I think it never relased. Actualy *khm* *khm* i hax0rzed a bit the compiler for compile some stuffz *khm* *khm*..  eh? :P
OMG why u not used C for this stuff?
- Dunno... But be carefull, best to use with 1.0.8, using different versyin may dies without d3d acceleration at start. 1.0.8 compiled executables runs fine with some ddraw only.

Licensz: Free for any use, but plz greet me, thx.

The contra:
-The sources (varibles, ect) is writed in hungarian language
-No documentation
-Somehow the TAB-s in source are crapped.

Geri, these are very good news since you decided not to continue with this driver. I only hope your contribution to 3dfx community will be the beginning of a new 3dfx driver for our old Voodoo2

Now the question: Could we develop a new driver for Windows Vista? :D

And Geri, one more thing: thanks for release the sources and maintain alive ours Voodoo2  ;)

Hello Geri!
I've been having problems for a long time and now i've decided to post.
I don't know what it is but when i install your drivers my Gefore 7600GT fails to intilize. The forceware drivers turn off but my voodoo 2 card works. And if i install the forceware drivers again the voodoo2 card turns off. I don't know how to fix it. I've read somewhere here that your drivers support geforce cards up to 7800 but it doesn't work with mine. I've recently formated my computer and i'm using Windows XP with a single Voodoo2 card and a GeForce 7600GT forceware 91.31. There should be no problems right?

Hi Xpresser!

The newest card i tested with is the GeForceFX5200.
I dont know about the newest cards how works with it.
May try to go to the bios, and try to enable "ASSIGN IRQ TO VGA".

What is your config? May the driver is incompatibile with your mobo.

Xpresser, try some Glide Wrapper - like evoodoo or simular. I have some, they work without voodoo hardware card, sometimes - very good. Also, take a look at glidos (http://www.glidos.net and other sites) - for DOS games under Windows.

Xpresser, if you need D3D, why you have to use V2 then? I think GeForce 7600GT is much much better in D3D then any Voodoo card, especially V2's :)

Well I need it to play Final Fantasy VIII it doesn't work on Hardware acceleration in D3D on newer GeForces and I know if I can get it to run with my Voodoo it will work perfectly. On my GF7600 I get blackboxes in the game and in the config menu it says "8-bit Paletted Textures Failed". I wish I had an older PCI graphic card to use but i've manage to burn 2 of them =s. The voodoo2 may be old but it has never disappointed me I really hope Geri can solve this.

Well, tricky one. Your motherboard and videocard doesn't support Windows 9x... It's damn bad that Nvidia made such a decision.

I have Voodoo Banshee PCI - it work reasonable good with WinXP. Perhaps you need to obtain some PCI card like this one (or even non 3dfx). Or even better - you can assemble some old computer, or buy one - it's really cheap. I have about 5-6 old computers - from 286 to P3 600 MHz (also 486, Celeron's, some Cyrix and AMD 586).

If you can't do it, just search in the internet - you can find old computers at good price.

Another solution is to dual boot with some Linux and use Cedega emulator - it works with almost any Windows game and with almost any video card. BTW, I just wonder why newer Geforce's won't work with old games - I haven't seen such a problem.

Xpresser: try with old Forceware driver.
What is the oldest driver that support your video card?
download a few oldest drivers, like 8x.xx and 7x.xx series, and find a old one.
Long time i dont use nvidia cards with new drivers, but i think the series 7x.xx drivers are out with the old style forceware build-up.
May if u try with these old drivers, then the nVidia driver will be secusfully installable, avoiding to hang with the Lgfx package.

I tried to moddifie the forceware 77.77 to install it on my card but it wasn't usable so the forceware 84.43 were to lowest version I could use.

Yeah I got the exact same thing in ordinary Windows XP SP2 several times. I also know it can't be a hardware problem because my voodoo2 worked fine in Win98se with the ordinary drivers. I don't use 98 anymore so I really need it to work in d3d in WinXP.
Plz Geri fix fix fix =). I'm a little suprised that no one else here has the same problem. I wonder do many people use your driver? maybe they don't know about them? You really have the best 3dfx drivers..I'm still thinking about buying another voodoo2 to use them in SLI because it's the best thing for older games. I only wish that you can make it work..
I wonder how the drivers will work in Win Vista...

P.S

I've tried to insert an ATI Radeon Sapphire 7000 64MB DDR PCI card a couple of days ago and it works. Had no problems installing it and using both the Geforce 7600GT and the Radeon 7000 together. The FFVIII runs much slower with the Radeon 7000 than voodoo2. Don't ask me how but the voodoo2 is much faster. My conclusion is that one of the d3d files in your voodoo drivers must be in conflict with with the detonator drivers. It's probably to old. Maybe the direct3d8.win or the vd2d3d.dll I'm not really sure...........
Title: LegendgrafiX VooDooMage 2 WindowsXP D3D GL OGL
Post by: Geri on 28 July 2006, 17:49:36
hmm...

Now i remember.
Newer detonator drivers are using d3d8.dll a lot too to display the windows desktop. (i think from series 55).
If you can start the lgfx control panel, try to disable directx8 emulation. That may fix some errors.
Title: LegendgrafiX VooDooMage 2 WindowsXP D3D GL OGL
Post by: Xpresser on 30 July 2006, 02:09:15
No it did not work!!
The lgfx drivers are disableing direct3d for the geforce7600gt (d3d still works for the voodoo2) and that results in 4bit desktop mode..One of the legendgrafix files must be outdated  probably one of the d3d files. It's strange because directly after the installation of the voodoo2 drivers (before restart) everything works fine! After the restart the d3d is disabled for the Geforce. I saw it in the DXDIAG and there is no way to enable it. What can it be Geri??

By the way SEG_Striker thanx for ur tipp but building an older computer is just to much work and one more computer takes up more space. The Cedega emulator ur talking about doesn't it emulate the graphics too? I tried Microsoft Virtual PC with windows98 and it doesn't use Graphic card drivers, instead it emulates them so I can't really play anything with it. By the way the Voodoo Banshee does it support direct3d under windows XP? It is one of the best cards for old games maybe I'll buy one.
Title: LegendgrafiX VooDooMage 2 WindowsXP D3D GL OGL

Yes, Voodoo Banshee support D3D under Windows 2000/XP - recommended drivers are Banshee Evolution (the best), Voodoolizer for Banshee and some other. If you can find PCI version, you can use it virtually on any (future) PC.
About Cedega (you can try also wine - part of Linux, Crossover Office) - it is running under Linux. It does emulate D3D, but not Glide, with Cedega you can run games (DOS, Windows games), which requests hardware DX9 support on Voodoo Banshee,3/4/5, perhaps on V2 also, but not so fast. Of course, you must install linux drivers, which are installed automaticaly, except those for Nvidia or ATI card. Therefore, some Linux distribution (FreeSpire, Xandros) includes Nvidia and ATI drivers. About Glide support - you can still use Evoodoo or another Glide emulator, even with Cedega.

P.S. I forgot to mention, that you can buy KVM switch, with it you can control more than one PC with 1 keyboard, mouse, monitor - switching around PC's. So, your second computer will not take so much place :)

Okey I tried to find an old voodoo card for sale but it's nearly impossible. A year ago there were still people selling them and I bought a Voodoo4 agp but now..
Thanx for the little guide, I didn't know Linux went so deep and had so many possibilities. Never used it tho but always thinking about trying it out, just to see how it works. Maybe I will do it but only when I have the time. It takes some time to learn a whole different operating system and I bet it's nothing like Windows. Maybe the best thing for me is to buy a Micro-ATX. I've been looking at this.

But I don't know what mobo will fitt there. Ít would be pretty good to have it connected next to the tv for older gaming/emulation purpose =P.

P.S When I decide to try linux out, you will be the first one I ask for help ;)

No sorry =( maybe someday. Always wanted to go to Sunny beach. Maybe next year =P..It seems as if Geri can't fix this problem. I guess i'll have to put the Voodoo2 card on layaway until someday.

Sunny beach is wonderful place, but Albena is better. Also, there are another good ones.

For V2 - keep in mind, that many modern motherboards just can't accept V2 - beeps like without memory. Example - Gigabyte NForce 4 SLI Pro.

The main site (3dfx.tk, with the drivers) will be removed soon.
I need somebody, who can host these driver files (all of them.)

So, does it mean this driver also includes a driver for Nvidia Riva 128 (maybe also ZX?) on windows XP? First I tried some things on XP until i realised that there's no driver for riva 128 on XP, so i reinstalled 98SE. But with this XP will detect the Riva?

No. As ps47 alreday sayed, this driver is for Voodoo2 + WindowsXP only.

For Riva128, i think, currently no accelerated drivers available for windows xp. Try Linux (i am not sure what qualify of drivers are available under linux to the Riva128), or Windows98/ME.
